******* The "official" Essential iPad Apps thread (with stars) *******

Just in case you didn't realise (not seen it mentioned above), you can load your own PDF books in the iBooks application, so there's not really any need to purchase, as I did, a separate PDF viewer.

To install them in iBooks, install the free Dropbox app, put your PDFs in it, start Dropbox on your iPad, open a PDF and click the tiny button in the top right corner. This will open a dialog which says open in iBooks. You'll then be transferred to iBooks and the PDF will remain permanently on your bookshelf!

Roughly yeah. Could probably be compressed down a bit to save on space. ;)

To see the quality possible on the iPad, I bought and downloaded the HD copy of BBC Planet Earth from the iTunes store. The file is 1.4GB which I would assume would make it a pretty good rip of the show. However when played back, it's not good quality at all. It looks lot like a Youtube video

Worst £2.49 I've spent.

What happens if I delete a paid for app from my iPad? Can I just go into the App Store and redownload it without incuring thefee again or do I have to pay?

I've never done this and was just wondering. On an Android phone the Market remembers what you've paid for and can just download again but then again this is Apple not Google so nothing would surprise me :D

Yeah if you've downloaded it and paid for it before, when you try and redownload it, a message will pop up to inform you that it's been purchased and you won't need to pay for it again.
