******* The "official" Essential iPad Apps thread (with stars) *******

Anyone know any good iPad games. Got nova which is good but all the other good games vie seen mentioned are just rehashes of iPhone games I've already played. E.g. Flight control, touchgrind, labarinth, real racing, angry birds.

Anything good worth buying?

What sorta games do you like though? Theres only so many things you can do really lol. Copter is pretty weird (i think thats what its called) can control using iPhone through bluetooth :p

Your not going to get a refund if it turns out you just don't like an App... ;)

Depends on the reasons for not liking; if I say 'it doesn't do what I expected', I would have thought they would be happy enough to refund, particularly as it's fairly expensive as apps go.

Probably a moot point anyway given that so far I'm getting on well with it :)

Like I said, just because "you" don't get on with it, it doesn't mean no one else does. Your only going to get a refund back if the app developer says that it will do something but it turns out it doesn't work or even run at all. :o

Does anyone here have OmniFocus for iPad? I'm trying to decide whether to take the plunge on a £25 app which seems to have stellar reviews. I've never used a GTD tool before but I tend to lead a busy and task-driven life so the idea appeals to me!

I have it but unless you are real familiar with the GTD system you are better off with Things for iPad or Todeldo as OmniFocus has a big learning curve.

I have OmniFocus for the Mac as well and keeping what is going off in life synced between the two is great as is the ability to use custom Perspectives so I can see at a glance what I can actually do be it at work or at home.

Saying that I am still learning and somethings don't get put in OmniFocus and then promptly get missed. It has to be a trusted system.

I think the app is good value as it is almost as functional as the desktop app for half the price. I have been looking forward to it since I got my iPad.

iTeleport :D

Been looking for a windows 7 tablet for ages (one that works fast) and gave up and got an iPad instead :p

Ive got a PC in my room (no monitor etc. just the tower) and downloaded iTeleport (Logmein is fine, but i want faster access while on the same network)

And i now have a Windows 7 tablet :D and it works very well indeed, very impressed

Expensive alternative. Would just use the free teamviewer myself.. I can't see a performance difference

I'll give it another go over the next few days. But really only use it if im downstairs or something and need to check something on PC. Can't think of another need for it really as PC is 'sleeping' so unless it can turn PC back on I can't use it elsewhere if (which i never do) find a wi-fi spot.

Can anyone recommend an App for radio stations. Hopefully getting an iPad in the next few weeks and I want an App so I can search for radio stations around the world and tune in etc.

Some apps I really like:
Shredder - Chess app - £4.99 but I really like it.
Sketchbook pro - Very nice drawing app
OffMaps - Download maps to use offline
Instapaper - Saves the text from a website for later reading offline
Wikipedia Discover - Presents Wikipedia in a really nice format and free
Plants Vs Zombies D - Great games lots of fun
Canabalt - simple platformer game. Visit their website for the free flash version
Pinball HD - Cheap pinball app. A good ten minute time wasters
Osmos HD - Beautiful looking game. hard to explain google for more info
Osfoora HD - Great twitter app around £2.39 but pays for itself in a few weeks if you use twitter on a daily basis.

and finally..

Bump - Very useful app to share photos and other media with other iPads, iPhones or iPod touches. Both devices must have the app installed but I've been using it put ecently taken photos from my iPhone to my iPad without the use of a PC to do the work.
