******* The "official" Essential iPad Apps thread (with stars) *******

Did see on one site, that they felt that if you'd bought a product from the US store that you'd have to re-purchase it from the UK store once you'd linked to that otherwise it would disapear from you iPad and iTunes.

Don't know how true it was and can't remember the web site I saw it on.

Taff

I just noticed that the Sky Mobile TV app has been updated to include iPad support, and it's a really nice looking app.

Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends.

The subscription for the iPhone is £6 a month, which I'm happy to pay. I expected to pay a similar amount on the iPad, so how much do you think it is?

£35 PER MONTH!

Now that's, clearly, complete madness.

Is anyone actually going to pay that, for half a dozen channels!?

Discuss.

Fun iPad games so far for me:
Pinball HD (lovely graphics and smooth game play)
10 PinShuffle
Let's Golf HD
Fieldrunners
Scrabble - makes 2 player games fun

News Apps
BBC News
Bloomberg
Reuters Pro News
Guardian Eyewitness (really lovely)

Magazines
GQ
Maxim - both have great user interfaces (the same can not be said of Zinio and Pixel mags)

Utilities
Dropbox
Wordpress
National Geographic World Atlas
Shazam
IMDB

You soon realise that the "old iphone" apps just don't cut it on the iPad and only made for iPad apps is what you will want.

Are these freebies or paid apps?

Delivery Status Touch

I'm pimping this app because it's brilliant on the iPhone, and it's a universal app so the iPad version is free if you already own it.

It's a delivery/package tracking app that covers all the major couriers and delivery firms

Been playing a lot of Cvilization Revolution, it's great! My only criticism is that the maps are kinda small.

Apart from that I've been playing Scrabble and Let's Golf HD which are both good fun too :)

Anyone notice that the European version of Scrabble has had online play/facebook integration removed compared to its US counterpart?
