******* The "official" Essential iPad Apps thread (with stars) *******

Carcassone - not new, but an excellent boardgame. Bit pricy at £6.99, but it's a great example of how to do an app right. Rules are quite simple, but there's a lot of depth to it. Recently updated for retina as well...

Had to charge the iPad half way through a game, I liked how it seamlessly transferred to the phone.

Was also very impressed with Flipboard, cheers to those who suggested it.:)

If I've bought an app on my iPhone, is it free on my iPad?
Yes and no. There are iPhone apps, iPad apps and then apps which work for both (these are indicated in the app store by a + sign next to the price.

So if you've bought the iPhone app: It will work on the iPad (free) but you will have to enlarge it (poor quality, though actually some retina iPhone apps apparently look pretty good on the iPad)

iPhone app with the + sign: Free again and it will be iPad quality

Dedicated iPad apps: No. So be aware, for example I think it's angry birds is more expensive on the iPad than the iPhone and the apps are dedicated for each device.

Hope that makes sense... I make things confusing :(

Whats the easiest ( and cheapest or free) way to upload documents on to iPad ( havent seen that option in iTunes) keep them on it and if necessary, attach to emails and forward ?

For those with Kingdom Rush...

I am stuck on what I believe is the very last level; Sarelgaz's Lairs on Iron mode. Has anyone else completed this? It's a nigh on impossible!!

I ended up with Documents to go. Bought pro version. Pricey but works and does what I wanted. You can sync with Dropbox, box, google docs etc, so can keep files in cloud as well as on iPad.
And it let's you email documents with no limit-pages have limit if one attachment per email.
