The *Official* Eve Online Thread

The biggest piece of advice that I would give to anyone that has a fear of dying would be to dock up your faction mission-runner, jump to a clone without expensive implants, grab a bunch of cheap frigates and go have some fun in low-sec or NPC 0.0 for a couple of weeks. I mean, what have you got to lose?

Firstly, you'll have a whole lot of fun at very little expense.

Second, you'll learn so much about offensive & defensive combat tactics, as well as how to travel in hostile space.

Third, you'll realise that getting podded is not such a big deal.

Finally, you will have your eyes opened to what many consider to be 'the real' EVE, instead of sitting in Empire in fear of losing your pimped mission ship to gankers.

It's also very likely you'll find a group of folks that you like and join a decent corp which, in my opinion, is what keeps the game fresh and interesting for the majority of people.

You could already pay to win, throw money at the game and you could buy an old character. The only difference is now you can do it and get to chose the character's name and look like a young character.:p

Buying characters with real money was always against the EULA, you may of been able to do it but that account could have been banned.

Yes I understand you could buy a loads of PLEX and sell for ISK then buy a character but either way its not quite the same as actually buying SP directly is it?

Feek you can have my stuff if I ever get back on the game without paying a bean!

It's not the same, but it was a means to the end. All ccp have done is made it more direct and flexible. Hardly grounds to flip a metaphorical table suggesting it's transformed everything. It doesn't matter how much isk you throw at the game you can still be a terrible pilot. Yes an experienced player can now pretend to be a newbie but have high sp... I just don't see it as such a massive issue.

As for giving away stuff, you should be able to active hours for plex on the account management pages for free.

I cleaned up my sp last night with an extractor. Got rid of all the little bits of sp in rank 0 skills from before the days of injecting books, and blitzed all my social skills to rank 0, with just social itself at 1.
Even though some skills needed social at a higher level e.g fast talk needs 4, I could still unlearn social as long as they were at rank 0 themselves.

You can: clicky and if you decide to do that, my character name is "Mister Feek", thanks :)

I do have to say, if I still owned my original character, I'd be tempted to use a skill extractor to get rid of all the annoying industrial skills I trained on him in the early days.

I bit the bullet and paid the £20 for three months with a free skill extractor. Got everything up and running last night so i'll see you all in the ocuk channel at some point

WB Dagejoor :) Was tempted to use the same offer on one of my accounts but never did in the end. Annoyingly didn't get the option to use it on my active accounts, plus I missed the previous deal with the skill extractors!

I have returned to the game recently, I was in The Initiative which is an alliance in CFC but the alliance isn't recruiting at the moment and they wont let me back in.

Is there anyone in a null sec corp on here that I can join? I have over 100m SP, can fly most ships in the game and have some capital ships.

What corp were you in?

Just found 200k unallocated SP in my account which appears to have been a gift from CCP as compensation for something which didn't affect me. Can't complain about that.

I currently just mess around doing high sec DED sites and anomalies, made a lot of ISK so far, keep getting things like mid grade slave implants, succubus BPCs (500K for minerals and sell the ship for 80 mil). Had a lot of centii a type hardeners drop and just now a True Sansha Warp Scrambler dropped, around 185 - 200 mil).

I tend to run them either in my Wolf or Ishtar.

That's not too sad then. I'm now doing the same stuff I did when I stopped my sub... which I should probably avoid otherwise I'll just get bored again
