The *Official* Eve Online Thread

A name change would be welcome! Even if it was a one time deal or expensive. The removal of SP and isk from the game is likely a good thing, and I think a lot of the issues im seeing with the system right now are due to it being new, things will likely calm down.

I'd quite like if they made name changes a possibility as well, it would be welcomed much more in the community than the buying of SP.

All they'd need to do to stop people abusing the name changes for thieving purposes would be to make our profiles list a history of previous names, much like our corp/alliance history.
I'd pay upwards of 1-2bil ISK to change my character's name from it's codename/callsign form to a proper first and second name.

Operation Rebalance all the things is in effect:

Cap Batteries, Webs, Scramblers, Disrupters, Damage mods, Damage Controls, ECM, Sensor Boosters, ECCM....

Overall looks like some good changes, 1-2 things look a bit odd i.e. the cap batteries I've mixed feelings on as there is often little reason to use them and some of the changes make it even less so (some of the fitting changes don't really mesh well) - on the flipside the faction variants look like they'd replace current T2 large functionality on i.e. strategic cruisers so a bit of give and take aslong as the faction ones don't end up stupidly rare or stupidly expensive. Would have been better IMO to rebalance large around upper end cruiser/BC use and add extra large for BS seeing as micro ones are being removed as a category.

If only the capital changes, etc. had as good spread of not penalising people too much for actually using stuff/outside the box usage, etc. while also generally improving usage.

The fitting changes are much better than a first glance suggests, the problem is Fozzie hasn't included the old stats for a comparison. They may still need tweaking though, CPU usage is way too high but PG looks ok.

Mediums very nearly give the same cap bonus as the old Larges for significantly lower fitting. The Thukker Large is as easy to fit as the current T2 Large and has significantly more cap aswell as the new neut resistance. The Thukker mod is going to be a huge buff to my WH PvE Legion :)

The old T2 large on say a strategic cruiser just about edged out a cap recharger for the first one which while a bit of a struggle to fit made it worth doing on some PVE fits, etc. with the changes you don't have a chance of fitting the normal meta/T2 large ones on any kind of useful fit and the new mediums would drop just below being good enough to make it worth fitting over a cap recharger. Its not a complete loss though if the faction variants are roughly their final stats as they'd actually be a better replacement than the old T2 large but it would hinge a bit on them being available and not to stupidly expensive.

Yeh the changes will make fitting oversized batteries harder (or outright impossible depending on choices / ships) but you get a lot more cap bonus for it. At the other end you have a slightly smaller cap pool by using a medium than you would have on an old large in exchange free up loads of fitting. Things have just re-aligned, I don't think it's a better/worse scenario here. It'll work better on some ships, worse on others - just like most of these tiericide changes.

How come the Damage Control changes are going to break things NZXT30? Lack of the old low cpu usage option? Without running the numbers I'd have thought the new hull resist and swapping to an armour resist would work better than a DC in some cases.

These changes to so many things are going to be a real fitting shakeup though. Looks like a lot of things are having their cpu usage increased.

Yes there is an obvious CPU creep that many people are already worried about. I expect gallente and hull tanking to dominate frigate warfare if these changes go through.

Problem is in a lot of niche cases where what is technically an oversized cap battery was useful to fit over a cap recharger - with the new medium stats it just isn't worth fitting over a cap recharger. However the faction variants potentially give some hope there aslong as they aren't silly to obtain.

Ooof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8K18S_RNEQ was aware of the technique to hide carriers but didn't know it could be used to get around the max bomb damage before you killed your own bombs thing.

EDIT: Sigh reading that capital dev blog is truly tragic - they've some great ideas but the execution is a mess and so many things they've obviously not thought through. They seriously should delay the whole thing and go back to the drawing board.

I've just put together a queue of about six months long to get me reasonably proficient in a Kronos. At my current rate of resubbing, that'll actually take about three years to complete!

I could but I won't.
In other news, I got a decent implant drop from Damsel today. I won't use it but it's worth a few ISKies.

Was watching a few streams these last few days after the skill injectors were released, spotted a stream from someone called IronBark.

Turns out he maxed a new character, 473.4 million skill points, all by skill injectors :eek:

So just over 1.8 trillion ISK to max the character!
