The *Official* Eve Online Thread

the difference between mining heamo or jaspet in lowsec, compared to pyro or omber in highsec is very, very negligible.

The rats are also weak.

My lvl3 was in a 0.6 and gave 1mill + bonus.

The difference is the zydrine...if you want it you have to go to low sec. As all megacyte is in 0.0 then mining as much zyd as possible in empire increases your profit margin as you're going to have to buy less. The monetary gains might not be there as in the difference betwen the price of isogen and the price of zydrine. But the fact that you cant get zydrine anywhere else except on the market adds a lot to this value. It is more or less the same story with manufacturing rather than selling mins purely for profit.
The point that the rats are weak...well that is my argument for the need for pirates in low sec. You need some sort of deterrant or else everyone will mine there and prices will drop and no one will make any money. Or everyone will make the same amout of not a lot of money.

edit..ok you edited while i was posting about the agent. It depends on the mission I suppose but I have got more than 1m for some missions and less for others.

once agent runners get moved out into 0.4and under for the decent agents then the situation will change, they'll be forced to deal with lowsec piracy with orginisation and guns.. .and about time too.. it's a multiplayer game after all.

Ribbo

back in the day when EVE went gold and people had started getting cruisers I had myself a Blackbird (only thing people could afford) and I got pirated in a 0.2 Pirate spawn (was around the sun of a system and there was a 3 NPC cruiser spawn there) got webbed and warped, he wasn't ACTUALY doing damage, but because I couldn't keep out of the NPCs range I Was getting splated, he ransomed isk from me (about 1mill) and then went on his way,
THATS the way pirates should be, as you can't take over peoples ships as real pirates would/do.

YYYAAARRRR!!!!!!!

Pirates can be split in 2 types.

Gate Camp Pirates:
These bunch of baddie just sit at a gate, either out of entry gun range and snipe or, tank the Damge from the Sentry guns, these ones have no option but to kill what ever come through as waiting for payment isnt an option.

and Belt Pirates:
Roam the belts for mining players and hold them to ramson (or not).

P.S.
has any one had the opertuntity to use the Vendeta thingy yet?

No but i have kill rights against me because my drones decided to attack a hauler for no reason. 3 weeks left... :(

belt pirates can be hunting for ratters in the belts too :)

it's quicker and easier to mine pyro, sell the nocx and buy the zyd than it is to mine the zyd.

Bah too many people in this game aren't interested in player interaction, some just mission away or mine away to fill their pockets with no interest in anything else.

Low sec needs danger or it might as well become a more profitable safe empire place.
Gate snipers is probably the lowest form of pirating, I'm yet to try it, but it is still valid. With so many people with stabs getting away (and i fit +4 points on an inty and +3 20k on a domi) and many others saying **** it and not paying a ransom, popping haulers is one of the only ways to make good isk.

I can remember when I first bought something in low sec, I was kicking myself at the mistake and really scared of entering, now lowsec, where I am is like a carebears paradise, If you dont enter belts then all gate > station travel is completely safe and all the trade routes are profitable.

..and in response to 0.0 is where its at, its quite funny to see FE and NBSI HAC pilots coming into the belts for easy ganks!

Oh yeah missed that one.
but they are more likely to have 2nd thoughts about 1 vs 1 Belt ratters.

Again, I dont agree. Going by my experience at least, anything in a system that is not friendly will get shot at. Of course no pirate is going to take on a bs in a frigate but generally if there is any chance of a kill it will be taken. If the pirate doesn't succeed then he may call in backup. Now many carebears would complain and say well now it isnt fair because the pirates are going more than 1vs1...but the other ship has every chance to call on their own corp for help.

In the end its piracy and its illegal so you're not really supposed to like it!

There are areas of low sec that are relatively safe. I lived around Ami and Defsunun for a while with Kinsy and didn't get aggressed once. :(

Not true! A guy in our corp took down a tempest in a condor (Dont ask me what the tempest guy was fitting for a tank!) I've tried a few times but I can't lie i've not broken the tank of a BS in an incursus.

Provided they are in a player corp, corp mates are close by and online.
My corp rules state to not pick on noobs (-1month) obviously we let this lax on occasions particularly as there are many of our members from 2 days - 3 weeks old.

However older players residing in noob corps for protection from wars and the like get no sympathy.

Dym, Vort

Always aim to please :), and I've never fired on an OCUK corp player (bar Fox :p)

A Fleet Op Tempest, infact any Fleet Op Battleship dont carry any sort of tanking/Repping/Boosting. So it might of been one of them

You won't beat a tanked BS with a frigate. You just can't do enough damage. Only hope you've got is to do something like replace your guns with NOSs, and use drones to do your damage, at a guess.
Cryptkeeper did a similar trick for his tournament win at evefest, in a cruiser vs cruiser fight, had no weapons, just *** and armor tank. Other ship had its cap sucked in next to no time and it was then just a case of waiting for the inevitable as the drones bit by bit ate through shields and armor.

My PvP Mega doesn't have a tank on it, but its designed for ranged combat, sniping for the most part, the focus is on gank rather than tank. If I get tackled by something there is a chance I'll get taken down by it. Of course, thats why I keep a drone bay full as a precaution ;)
