The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Did my first proper bit of piracy this morning. celestis mining in 0.3, i ransom, he doesnt pay, I then scram his pod, and he still wont pay. So he dies. Too bad he dropped crap loot :( but it was fun nevertheless. Bit hard on the sec hit though... 0.4 to -0.7! Wont be doing that again in a hurry.
 
Im only 4 months old...dont much see the need to come into 0.0 yet. Especially as ill get destroyed by people with many more sps than me. This guy earlier was about the same age as me and had every opportunity to buy his life. Do you really suggest i come into 0.0 to learn to pirate? getting past the gate camp, losing the friends and allies have have built in this space?

Friends :)

Most of the members are either manufacturers or agent runners, we do a weekly corp mine, which goes towards corp mineral stocks.
 
Ah right cool, not the manufacturing kinda guy myself or miner, but good stuff all the same. My corp however are very strong on the Industry side of things, so give me a shout if you like ;)

you could always take the painfully obvious choice of join an existing 0.0 corp who would actually help you move :confused:

Hey!! firstly I don't appreciate being spoken to in that way! Secondly I wasn't complaining, I'm happy for them to sort it out in their own time. Thirdly I agree it was daft but I never thought to change it.

We all can't be as infallible as yourself.

I moved in at 1m sp.

Someone I know moved in at 500k sp.

Didn't get ganked by bigger and badder players, I even took a Bestower down through 3 gate camps ;).

shooting a cruiser in lowsec is no lamer than blobbing up 80+ to kill the odd BS that comes through. I'd say it takes a lot more skill to pirate solo than to sit in a big gang and shoot the haulers/intys and BSs that pop by.

and

Pirates don't go into 0.0, they're too scared, Pie rats live in 0.1-0.4 space.

Use the free trial. There was a hack on the account servers and it was stopped after 57 accounts, apparently, but a few thousand passwords were reset, and the news insisted everyone change their password. So people have not had there passwords for nearly 48hours.
Could be worse, the email is sent to the email in which the account was setup, so with characters been sold nearly two years ago - people can't access there accounts and can't get in contact with the previous owners. :D

The 80+ are a formed fleet; they are there to fight whatever is thrown at them. The only time you will have 80 people jumping into a single system to get a single ship is a Capital Ship, and it’s a dam sight more then 80 people.
Pirates are there to be the dominant player, you get the odd PvP’er who will fight in a 1v1 with the odds against him, but the rest are there to just get the NPC’ing and Miners in low sec. They won’t dream on taking a bigger target as that’s suicide and then it looks like they suck. It was the same with Generals, we never took on people with a good Win/Loss ratio, never got us anywhere.

I cant disagree with a word that you've written there, but what I certainly do have a problem with is the lumped stereotype feek has given at least twice in this thread that all pirates prey on the weak. Sure there are plenty, but it isnt all of us, likewise fighting in 0.0 doesnt make you some extreme hardcore 'big brave' pvper all of a sudden.

There are plenty of alliance players from FE and NBSI who like to cruise around the belts in my location picking fights. Its a lot harder to fly around in a frigate taking on the cruisers and battlecruisers out and about particularly when you've got 2 minutes max before their gank squad buddies come to reinforce your target.
