I've only just got back into Eve (as of Friday). I forgot how annoying downtime could actually be. What is it actually for?

Allows them to optimise the database, clear junk up, change sovreignty of solarsystems (not dynamic currently), replace 'eggs' with outposts and so on.

Tusdays downtime will be 24 hours as they're switching over to some very nice Opteron powered blade servers. Tests they've conducted so far show 3x speed gain, though they're only anticipating 2x speed boost when live. The next major patch (Kali?) would probably see them changing from 32bit code over to full 64bit code to really take advantage of the system.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the application to join OcUK corporation to go through? I applied at the Isikano office but I've heard nothing yet.

Upgraded to a Bantam as my first proper ship but hitting some power issues unless I remove a few items, how do I increase the amount of power that this ship can use?

No idea at all about your first question, but the answer to your second is train Engineering, that will increase your powergrid and allow you to fit more.

You can use Power Diagnostic Systems, Reactor Controls or if you have the skills, a Micro Auxillary Power Core.

A Power Diagnostic will add 5% to your base powergrid, and will also give a small boost to capacitor capacity and recharge and the same with shields. Reactor control will give you a flat 10% boost whilst a Micro Auxillary Power core will give your ship +10 extra power grid points, which is very useful on a small ship like a frigate.

Also, you can train your engineering skill - every level gives you 5% more powergrid on every ship you fly. :)

The bantam is a good ship for mining in. :)

Your done now mate, sorry for the wait I have been away for the weekend and our CEO can't currently access EVE. So the number of people to accept your application are somewhat reduced.

Thanks, I've got your in-game mail. :)

A message popped up on everyone's screens saying they had the new hardware on line and wanted people to test it. They posted a specific IP to connect to, so it's not on the live database.

It started off as a serpentis invasion, but in the end it became a big PvP gankfest. Everyone shooting everyone else. Lots and lots of fun.

The whole of Empire was made 0.0 and you could get moved to the main systems, Jita, Rens etc just by asking. The market was fully seeded with all items 100 ISK.

What a great evening. This should happen more often!

There were so many obvious non PvP'ers there though, lots of easy kills to be had, but still a lot of fun and actually damn good experience for everyone.
