The *Official* Eve Online Thread

actually, the problem with angels is the fact that they do all damage types, depending on which ones you come across (unless they have changed it recently).

couple this with the fact that they are also the hardest to kill and drop the worst loot, and well.... life is just peachy

lol
Changed dramatically in RMR.

Read Garps post.

Angels have gone from being easy to being stupidly easy.

A couple of rather splendid Eve videos that everyone should watch.

Concordokken'd (10.8Mb)
This is so funny because of the way it's presented. Something in this video has happened to every single Eve player out there. If it's not happened to you yet, don't worry, your time just hasn't come yet! I just giggle all the way through it and I've watched it so many times. I guess some people may have heard the term 'Concordokken'd' but not seen the video. Well here it is. Watch it and chuckle. Download it here. You'll remember this video when you accidentally shoot something you didn't mean to, like a stargate, or a member of your gang who's in a different corp.

Castles in the sky (33.3Mb)
Almost a year old now this is the story of how Xetic and Stain Empire took out an unarmed POS. This is before the days of dreadnaughts and so all the work was done by battleships. At the time this happened I was flying up and down the pipe in a ship with no offensive capabilities so I couldn't join in. The music is absolutely perfect for the theme and the whole video is just superb. Well edited, well put together and with a purpose. Videos don't get much better than this. I love the touch of the can left behind at the end. Stunning. Download it here

I just went to apply to the OcUK corp, typed "Hi" then pressed enter and it sent my application :o so I didn't manage to type anything else :p

Application off MinMatty is from me, just if you wonder why there's nothing to the application ;)

No it doesn't, not in EVE, if you are caught ratting by hostiles, you're toast anyway, and you are a tool for not keeping an eye on local and an ear open for intel :p

Nah, we regularly have ceptor and t1 frig incursions, if your webbed and scrammed by an NPC spawn it makes very little difference if you notice them comming into local.
Intel is all well and good, but not all approaches to X system can be monitored, valid points you made, but not infallable. You would be supprised how quickly a bunch of ceptors run from an npc'ing raven fitted with a combination of light/med drones, a n.o.s. and a smartbomb. Plus you always get some muppet in a missleboat who doesnt spread their torps, which is another bonus as you can just smartbomb the incomming missles/torps, even if you can only kill off 2 in 6 salvos its reducing the DOT significantly.
Has saved my ass once or twice. If i know there are hostile HACS in the area il makesure i fit 2 heavy n.o.s, that tends to put the carps up them long before they get your tank down.

If there are hostiles in the area, go hunt the hostiles.

On a Raven/Phoon/Domi you have some high slots to mess about with anyway, so you can fit what you want (or what you are restricted to due to pg/cpu) so that's a moot point anyway.

However, compromising the tank = you not being able to rat as quickly, or as safely.

Well obviously. But if you get caught out, your much more likely to survive if you have a compromise between NPC and PVP. Ratting is easy as hell, so its really not a problem to compromise.

yeah its laggy as anything too;still the new upgrades are being sellotaped into place on the 21st so not long to wait now

mm damn most successful op ive been on tonight, about 40 kills, some sweet loot and no losses

I've just subscribed and started a new character for EVE, currently going through the tutorial missions and I'm at the stage of trying to work out waypoints. One problem is that although I've set a waypoint for the destination station AutoPilot won't jump as it says there are no waypoints set, but there are. Joys of being a "noob". :o

Auto-pilot takes you to a system, not a station... what system are you in and where are you heading to?

I'm currently in Kisogo and I'm trying to get to the Jita system. I've just discovered it's reporting "destination unreachable" and I've also discovered a stargate to the place so I'll be using that I guess. :)

Edit: Sorted the problem. I'm using the auto-pilot now on the courier missions with the agent in Sobaseki X.

Autopilot default settings are rubbish - They have you avoiding pod killing zones which really doesn't work well.

Okay I think I've got the basics sorted out. My character is called "Karodaz", he's Caldari of the Deteis bloodline and I've taken Fighter as the class in the character creation screens.
