Hey, i just installed the 14 day free trial hopefully after that i will pay monthly, anyway i try to connect to the server tranquility and it says unable to connect to the selected server, please check the ip address, then it says about extended downtime 11.00-16.00 GMT, but its now 16.40 GMT, is it a problem with my client or have they just got a longer delay than expected or somthing?
 
ok, ummm any idea how long it could be? i mean, is it going to be hours, i want to make the most of EVE incase i dont start paying after the 14 days, i need to join alliance or somthing, that OCUK thing, get some help etc..

It's because we're not in GMT at the moment, we're in British Summer Time (BST). 1600 GMT will be at 1700 BST.

What is this OCUK alliance thing and that british space thing or w/e its called aswell?

kool, am looking forward to playing, never got around to playing these sort of games, always want to tho, was thinking of getting WOW but i like modern stuff better :D

I'd be banking on atleast another hour AFTER downtime, if not for extended downtime then from all the people logging in (about 15-20k) at once.
 
ah, 15-20k aty once :eek: thats one big crowd of people, its a wonder it doesent slow the game down.

Any ideas how big the EVE world is?

define big?
atm its 250k subs (iirc) and about 25k active people on at any one time max (little less realy, but iirc thats about the max recorded recently).
but as for systems, planets, stations, belts etc then I dunno, "lots" is the best answer i can give
 
ah, well is it possible to travel in a ship from one side of the world to the other in say about, a day? i used to play this game called Time Of Defiance, took me about 18 hours to get from one end to the other in this big ship.
I mean the actual size of the world, like one end to other, not exact, in time taken to get from one end to other.

Second question, as a serious point knowing you've flown both and I've only flown the ishtar: Is there any situation where a deimos is worth flying over an ishtar?

Yes in a fast ship, even without instas it is possible, but it would take you the entire day.


Whether you make it alive or not... ;)

But thats just getting from one side to another, you couldnt visit every system in the universe in a day. Not by a long shot

Eve is just a space ship game, however there are the market and industry aspects that can be controlled from in station without ever undocking, similarly there are player ran stations, moon mining, outposts and capital ship construction that can all be built/managed without really flying around much.

Then theres mining, trading, NPCing and player combat
 
I don't think you could travel from deepest South Feyth to way up North in a battleship without instas before a downtime (i.e 23 hours+).

he is right to an extent.. -0.1's rarely see 1.8's, but anything lower than -0.5 see them loads of times in my experience. However -1 does not guarantee they will be the best ratting system.

There are around 5000 visitable systems or so if memory serves me correctly (the unvisitable ones being Jove and Pirate space).
