**The Official Everything MMA Related Thread**

The real issue is the other 20 fighters expecting paydays. The fans who bought plane tickets, booked holidays, hotels etc. Which the event tickets are being refunded the others might not be. It is the first time an event has been cancelled, all because Jones refused a fight. Also apparently the first time a champion has ever refused a fight in the UFC.

I remember reading that Chael walks around at 210, 215 so the 205 cut would have been far easier for him. Would be nice to see him fight at a size better suited to him.

It's a glorious day when Sonnen trends on twitter in the UK :D

Jones is ducking Chael, the panties fall down to reveal a vagina at long last.

Don't talk out of your backside.

Greg Jackson is Sherdog Radio atm.

http://www.sherdog.com/beatdown.php

Apparently Chael has been training with Hendo in the lead up to this fight and is in fight shape. A like for like replacement surely?

Hardly, name wise and experience wise chael and Henderson are worlds apart. it would be a massive step down.

And if he was ducking would he be taking a harder fight in a months time?

Like for like in terms of fighting style. Hendo was an olympic wrestler, Chael an olympic alternate. Hendo has the H-Bomb, Chael was a golden gloves boxer. Greg Jackson is saying they turned down the fight because of time needed to prepare not for financial and promotional reasons.

Greg has said this:

Jackson: I agree with Jon's decision. It's not very smart to take a fight on 3 days' notice against a style you haven't prepared for.
Same style really no?

I've finally put my finger on the problem I've always had with Jones.

I thought it was simply his arrogance, the fact that he's disingenuous and insincere.
But there are some fighters I love who are arrogant, it kinda goes with the territory of being a fighter.

I just realised, when you put together the attitude and all the things he says, tweets etc, he thinks he's some sort of chosen one.

He thinks he's bigger than the UFC.

Never liked him, but now I feel justified in it :D

Jones taking a beatdown on twitter. Bisping cracked me up "Jones said he's not fighting chael on 8 days notice. I did. .... Just sayin"

Machida is in the future regardless, he earned his shot and Jones can't duck him. Chael comes along, and could have given JBJ his biggest payday as EVERYONE would have watched that, thats before Chael even pays him out of his own pocket. Instead JBJ runs for the hills and tries to tweet Chael as a coward, thank god people are smarter than that.

The only fight that's worth anything is her vs Cyborg.

But she ran from 145 so she didn't have to fight Cyborg and is now calling Cyborg to come to 135 which Cyborg has said many times she can't make.

Her plan was to "go win the 135 title and then go back to 145 and hold both" it seems to have changed drastically.

Lol, Cyborg 'can't' make 135 because shes juicing, period. If she got off that **** she'd drop to 135 with no issues whatsoever. If Ronda can make it so can she, why should Ronda have to go and make effort to move up to fight a disgraced cheater? Champs don't have to chase chumps, it's the other way around.

Biggest payday ever? you are joking.

Chael lost a lot of his appeal to the casual fans after his last loss to Silva, the reason why the buy rate was so high was the first fight was so close. And the smack talk leading up to the second. A lot of casual interest in him would have been lost after his loss. So his paydays will never be as high again.

You can not even compare cheal and Henderson in the same sentence though of what they have achieved in the sport. One a legend and one is a middle of the road fighter. One is a big win under your belt, the other is just another name on the list. Full credit to chael for stepping up though.

But if you was jones would you really want to fight someone who has just lost a middle weight? then come up to light heavy as he has no chance of getting a shot at middle weight again for along time?

Not at all, people would want to tune in to see the man who dominated Anderson Silva for 6 1/2 rounds out of 7, and lost due to two split second mistakes. They'd tune in and watch a dominant champion face the only man to test the dominant champion from a weight under, any true fan would love to see if Chael can dominate yet another champion. There is already tons of revenue built up from Hendo vs JBJ that would go to them both, instead Jones selfishly cancels the entire event, loses every fighter their payday and screws the fans out of an event.

Why? Well he doesn't have to worry about money issues now hes on Nike.

Chael steps up on 8 days notice to fight the most dominant champion in 205 history, then Jones makes UFC history by being the first champion to refuse and duck somebody given to him, Dana should disgrace and fire him.

That has no relevance on their fighting style. They have said they didn't pulled out for commercial reasons, they did for stylistic. Sonnen and Hendo have very similar fighting styles.

Just funny.

Do you honestly think he is going to put jones on his back like he could with Anderson? And the any "true fan" comment I'm sorry kid but i have been following mma since before you even hit double digits in age, and I will be honest I have no interest in the fight. I'm much happier with the Machida Jones 2 next month As i see it being a much more competitive fight.

So would you take the fight if you was in Jones shoes?

Fighting someone who has just lost at a lower weight class, then gets a instant title shot a weight class above. Either way for him that was a lose lose. And if you don't believe it was for the fact they think it's a lose lose they did not take the fight more fool you.

And No i do not like Jones myself he is arrogant and still lacks a lot of technique. I'm just saying how I see it from his point of view. And to be fair I would have the same one if in his position.

Heck why not bring Tim Boetsch in at least he is on a bit of a roll......

Honestly I probably would. Then I train in MMA because I have a passion for it, not because I am looking to earn a living from it. Jones does it for both. He has to consider fighting Chael down the road could earn him more money. Of course he did it for commercial reasons, however, the reason he has given makes him sound like a coward. It wouldn't be a lose lose fight. It would be, I am the champion, I will fight whoever comes across my path.

Speaking of Boetsch. Bisping fought Chael on 8 days notice.

Big difference cheal is a no name fighter a 205 as far as most ufc fans go

Bisping fought him on short notice as it would have been a big boost for him.

After all he had just nearly beat silva at the time, then an impressive win over stann. So it would have been a instant title shot if he had won.

What's in it for Jones? I seen machida a much better challenge for him than sonnen. A fight with sonnen at this stage there is just nothing in it for him so why should he take it?

And same as me i trained for the fun, although have stopped recently due to a bad leg.

Jones wouldn't be in the situation he is in now. Half the fighters have turned against him. One guy on the undercard has apparently invoiced the JBJ for the rent he won't be able to pay because the card was cancelled. The Mandalay Bay has cancelled Joe Rogans show because UFC151 is cancelled. By not accepting the fight he cost the UFC $millions but more importantly all the other fighters.

The fighters will be taken care of expenses wise

But do you really think Jones cares? I do not.

To be honest with jones I see he fighting and hoping for something more ie fighting a few fights more and hoping for something better comes along.

The nike deal will be the start. I don't see him having the long term passion like Henderson etc.

anyone watch ucmma last night? RVPs fight was just lol, guy is crazy but a great fighter.

my ex collage teacher Nick Chapman was the main event, shame to see him lose with such a bad mistake!

Sonnen is going to love this....

Don't understand why they've just cancelled the show... Just put it out for free on FX or something if the rest of the card can't hold a PPV.

I feel for the other fighters on the card ... Just sucks.
