After seeing him put himself in the exact position where the pundits were saying Bonnar needs to put Silva to beat him I'm starting to think Silva allowed Chael to take him down to prove a point.

Anyway, the fact remains that Anderson Silva has only lost to Asian opponents so the UFC should import 10 Japanese fighters and put them all up in the cage at the same time to fight him.. 10 against 1. lol

I've heard people say this but I mean, come on. Really? Why even defend the take down (he defended like mad)?

I also don't get the whole "he let him self get beaten up for 5 rounds to prove his BJJ was good". Really?

With all that being said. Silva is looking unbeatable in the middle weight division. GSP and Bones are the only 2 fighters who pose any sort of risk. (I think GSP wins, JJ loses).

I was talking more about the second fight, the first round he allowed the takedown in the second round he defended it to prove he could defend it... I'm speculating here. The first fight he couldn't avoid the takedown or move well due to the rib injury he had going into the fight.

He defended the take down in the second fight (first round) as well though? Albeit unsuccessfully.

Lost for words on how that clown Chael has got a fight against Jones. Dana White said he wouldn't talk himself into a fight, TUF fails and he throws Jones and Chael together. Yeah great, because that is a fight everyone wants to see CAN'T WAIT WAY TO GO!

Everyone does want to see it. Listen to the TUF press conference. Everyone was offered Jones but they were all injured or turned it down. Chael was the only one who stepped up.

How come Henderson couldn't fight Jones? Surely by April of next year when they fight he'd had recovered from his injury?

Also, is anyone watching TUF this season? There are some serious idiots in that house, it makes it funny to watch, but I can't help but hate some of them. Julian is the worst!

And Nick, what a complete chopper.

I'd have to go the other way tbh - I just don't think GSP has the size to take down (and keep down!) a guy that is a) a weight class above anyway and b) can walk into even the weight class above that and dominate! (oh, and if GSP tried anything other than dominating him on the ground, he loses very quickly imo!)

Jones on the other hand has the power and speed that could cause Silva problems (although if I had to put my house on it, Silva wins that one too!)

I agree with you about GSP. All he would have is his takedowns and wrestling on the ground. Silva wins the stand up game. He is not as strong as Chael but he is a hell of a lot quicker.

It would be a great fight either way.

I do think Jones is capable of beating Silva but I still think Silva takes it. Jones' biggest advantage is his reach. Silva also has an exceptionally long reach. I don't know how the 2 compare though.

There was something said about after Chael badmouthed the Noigera's and ju-jitsu Silva entered the octagon in a ju-jitsu gi(?) intending to prove how good it really was.

Would be cool if true!

He did, he also rinsed the whole of Brazil. This is the reason for the Wanderlei's quote, "In Brazil you show respect you keep your teeth!"

When he wiped vaseline from his face onto his body before the fight started and the ref saw it and wiped him down, what point was he proving there?

When he repeatedly grabbed Chael's shorts to prevent his takedowns in the second round, what point was he proving there?

The vaseline thing was bad, no need for it as was the grabbing of the shorts but as one of my training partners has pointed out when you're in "fight mode" you don't think things through as it's all instinctive. It could be in training that Silva is used to wiping sweat or whatever he puts on his face off and drying his hand on his top or shorts or whatever and the shorts grab... well, I think that was deliberate cheating. Whatever though, even without that Silva was going to win.
