The vaseline thing was bad, no need for it as was the grabbing of the shorts but as one of my training partners has pointed out when you're in "fight mode" you don't think things through as it's all instinctive.

One could use the same excuse to justify any behaviour, I'm not buying it.

Mike Tyson bit off a portion of Evander Holyfield's ear? He was in "fight mode", it's all instinct!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to type up a civilised response however, the last Anderson fan I asked that question of just replied "**** you, Anderson is the greatest he can do what he wants!" and left the chat.

comparing holding shorts to biting someones ear off ?

That's what you got from my post, seriously?

Okay then, allow me to explicitly state that I don't believe that short holding is even close to being as bad a rule violation as biting.

I was applying an extreme example to show why I believe that the previous poster's thinking was flawed; this is known as a logical extreme and is a commonly used technique in debating, I would be surprised if you had not encountered it before. A common counter to the logical extreme is to then imply that the person using it believes that the two examples given are of equal weight and is therefore inappropriate which is what I believe you have done here.

If I am wrong and your question was genuine then please disregard the previous statement, and accept my apology if I sounded patronising.

The thing is with short pulling is most of the time you don't even realise you're doing it. There are times when it is obviously being done deliberately though.

You don't accidentally bite someones ear off. :)

Not surprised, it's not the first time he's tested positive.

At this point you have to be seriously kidding yourself if you don't think a huge proportion of UFC fighters, or in fact any professional athletes, aren't on PEDs.

Seriously? Not even sure how to reply to this. All I pointed out was a hypothetical explanation of why he may have done it, there was no attempt to justify it. I hate cheaters of any kind in MMA as it cheapens the sport and opens the sport up for criticism from the morons who want it banned.

Condit vs GSP in 2 weeks. Not seen any UFC for a few months but will probably watch this one. I can see GSP winning via submission or TKO, but I'd love to see Condit win it.

Ronda Rousey is the first UFC womens champion!

Just a year ago Dana said that there would NEVER be a womens division, guess he realised that he could make some $$$ out of Rousey and had a change of heart.

January 19th is a huge Strikeforce card. Cormier, Rockhold, Marquardt and Melendez are all defending their titles I think. Would love to see a UFC megacard like that sometime soon.

Sadly it's almost certain to be their last event; it's the last show that they're contractually obliged to put on for Showtime, once it's done then Zuffa will dissolve Strikeforce and move any fighters they want to keep over to the UFC.

Weigh-ins for tomorrows event:

Where is everyone today, nobody got anything to say about the end of Strikeforce and Rousey becoming the first UFC womens champion?

Its not been screened yet but it has happened. I went to sherdog to get an idea when it was starting and caught the result of the main event. :/

So is nobody else excited that the UFC is going to have a women's 135 division? Even if they're not the most skilled, the women always come to fight!

It certainly beats watching the men's 125 division anyway.

The problem is, how many 135ers are there? Out of those how many are there that could realistically pose any sort of a threat at all to Rousey?

It's definitely not a bad thing that UFC have opened a womens division but it's going to be many years before it's worthwhile. Hopefully this will encourage a lot more women to take up the sport.
