O M F G ARE YOU SERIOUS. Velasquez injured. Werdum vs Hunt for interim heavyweight title. WTF. Yet another fight I was looking forward to cancelled due to injury and replaced with a terrible matchup. Werdum will demolish Hunt.

2014 has been a pretty terrible year for UFC.

Yeah that's a really bad match, it's a shame JDS wasn't ready for the bout, or even Travis Browne. Either of those would have been better fights, Werdum will destroy Hunt. I know there's not much the UFC can do about it but my interest in MMA has really declined this year due to all the cancelled and delayed fights.

To be honest I don't understand why Dos Santos can't be ready - according to Wikipedia he's lined up to fight Miocic in December!?!?

Hunt is coming off a win, loss and draw in his last 3 fights (albeit Bigfoot failed his drugs test in the draw so you could argue 2 wins and a loss) whereas Dos Santos has only lost to Cain recently and has already beaten Hunt in May last year!

Werdum vs Dos Santos makes loads more sense imo!

Not much to be gained from this fight really. If Werdum wins which he most likely will, we're simply back to square one again with Werdum vs Velasquez. If Hunt somehow miraculously pulls off a win then we're left with Hunt vs Velasquez, which will probably go down as one of the most one sided title fights in history.

Even Overeem would have been a better matchup than Hunt. True he doesn't deserve a title eliminator fight at all but neither does Hunt really. I think Werdum vs Overeem would be a much more competitive and interesting fight, as well as a chance for Werdum to avenge his loss to Overeem in Strikeforce. If Overeem won I think Velasquez vs Overeem would be a far more interesting fight as well.

Agree and disagree to be honest - yes I think Hunt is wholly undeserving of a title fight, even if it is an interim title fight, but on the other hand, Overeem has just been shocking since he came to the UFC and shouldn't even be in a job there, let alone challenging for a title!

He's basically being given a lot of leeway because of reputation and other than the Lesnar fight he's been terrible - even the win over Mir was boring with no attempt to finish when he really should have!

Besides which, the fight between Werdum and Overeem in the Strikeforce GP was just plain embarrassing - Werdum lying down and inviting Overeem into his guard was just bizarre!

I'd have thought either Rothwell or Arlovski would have been better stand-in's but both have fought fairly recently!

No Joe Rogan, but there is a fight companion if you listen to his podcast.

Did not realise this event was on!

It was ok, main fight was good.

However, Aldo's moaning every minute about something was getting boring. Especially with what happened at the end of round one.

Only realised Velasquez was injured when this started, most of the fights I have looked forward to this year have been moved. Nature of this businness I guess.

I was about to say I was looking forward to the Dillishaw (Killishaw!) rematch....
However I cannot see it anywhere, perhaps it did not get rescheduled after the no show.

Edgar V Swanson looks good.
I hope UFC 181 can keep the cards it has at the moment!

Only watched the main card. Wasn't bad. Main event was good. Everything else was a bit meh. Also...Brazilian crowd sucks and...30-27 for Martins? What?

Cannot wait to see McGregor vs Aldo.

Aldo is such a dirty fighter, that 2 punch combo after the bell was about as blatant as it gets. Quite how Goddard didn't take a point off i'll never know.

Then he's asking for time for a clearly legal knee, and an uppercut he was saying was an eye poke ... just dirty.

First fight was utter blatant cheating with a fence grab to prevent a takedown as well, 30 seconds later Mendez was out cold.

Hope Connor smashes him all around the Octagon.

I mirror these comments.

I think Connor should have a few more fights first tho as there are others also on good streaks.

I also agree, it is what I was meaning in my spoiler bit.

It was spoiling the fight for me, espeically after end of first round.

Any link to the post fight press conference? all the ones I can find are either taken down or have Spanish dubbed over.

It would be nice to see Connor smash Also but I honestly don't see it happening any time soon. I think a couple of shots off Aldo he will be picking his chin from the ground. Mendes was unlucky and fought a good fight could have gone either way given Aldo a point deduction for the after bell incident.

The fight could have quite easily went either way if Aldo had played fair, he's a fantastic fighter and I think it will take something special from McGregor to win if he gets the fight. I just can't hop on the hype train with the fights he's had compared to the title defences Aldo has made.
