Think i'm going to rewatch the fight without commentary, I was sure as hell Hendricks was 4 up going into the 5th with lawler winning 5th with flurry in last 60 seconds.
Perhaps Joe Rogan struck again, as quite a few people thought it was close. Although i'm pretty certain Hendricks dominated the stand up, lawler looked frustrated and barely landed a punch until Hendricks decided to hump his leg.
I think my issue with Hendricks is that he just looked pretty boring. Pinning someone against the side of the cage without really doing much doesn't/shouldn't get points from the judges. Apparently he had a really bad weight cut this time, he put on too much weight while recovering from bicep surgery and then struggled to get rid of it leading up to this fight.
In my opinion that really showed in the last few rounds, Hendricks looked tired and seemed content to try to pin Lawler against the cage and lie on him on the floor to try to grind out the win. Also I think Lawler looked the more likely to end the fight. Hendricks landed lots of good leg kicks and some decent knees, and he had a few takedowns too (which he didn't do anything with) but he never really wobbled Lawler. Hendricks was clearly a bit wobbly after Lawler's onslaught in round one and was very close to being knocked out in the fifth round.
