Leech is the real goat here. This whole switch seems staged, no way Khamzat would be 8lb over on weigh in day, he said in an interview they told him early hours to stop cutting. Admittedly though this card is way more appealing, El Cucuy and Nate will be a war.

A lot of people on r/MMA think it’s staged.

Here is what we know:

• Nate Diaz is at least a top 5 draw in the UFC.
• Diaz is a massive underdog in this fight. The line is around Nunes vs Pena 1.
• Diaz is not enthusiastic about this fight. He has publicly said that he didn't want this fight, doesn't care about this fight and hasn't trained for this fight.

Now we get into tinfoil hat territory:

I think the UFC finally realized that this fight was nonsense and it probably isn't selling enough for the star power that's included. PPV pre order buys are probably low. Tickets are still available (official, not just on the resale market).

They see some real animosity brewing and a more competitive matchup between Khamzat and Holland. Holland knows how to sell a fight and they just so happen to have a conflict backstage.

I think they were working on this after the pre fight press conference. Khamzat is told to stop cutting and happens to weigh within a lb of Holland.

Nate/Ferguson and Khamzat /Holland are much better fights. Two attack-minded, very hittable legends of the sport going at it. Holland can't defend a takedown but he has a good stand up game and reach advantage. He should weigh more than Khamzat in the octagon.

Leech is the only one that's completely ****** over but there is no downside.

It's just all so convenient... Khamzat missing weight by 8lbs and seen eating like crazy in a restaurant the night before? This points to either a complete breakdown of discipline (which is out of character for how he trains) or it says that he knew he wouldn't have to make weight but wasn't very discreet about it.

So yeah, I am not huge into conspiracy theories but would also not be surprised if the UFC changed it all around knowing how unpopular those fights were and how bad the backlash would be if Diaz got completely humiliated in his last fight in the UFC. Khamzat is now getting a lot of hate from the MMA fandom though so I doubt he is very pleased with that, having had mostly adulation to this point.

I hope Diaz and Tony put on a banger and Holland pulls off a miracle. Li is also an awesome guy and I hope he wins.

Wow, Li was robbed there. I stopped watching boxing due to terrible judging but it seems to be infecting this sport more frequently too.

Makes you wonder if being Chinese had something to do with it...

Nothing unexpected in the results for me.

Tony needs to put his feet up and call it a day....5 straight losses.... Great fighter, always gave everything but looks like an old man these days....

Nate - Good luck to the guy - a wild ride, and hardly ever in a dull fight.

Chimaev - What can you say - missing weight by that much is a disgrace, but he's a one man wrecking machine..... Needs to fight at 180lb as I don't see the UFC allowing him a title fight at 170 as I'd be stunned if he makes 170 again.

Just as well the fights were changed as Nate would have gotten murdered, much better way to go out on a high. Such a bizarre fight too - Tony tapped, he never taps. Nate didn’t bleed, he always bleeds! Enjoyable. The other fights were decent too (dat liver shot of peace). The only person that’s hit Chimaev in the UFC so far is Burns lol.

Evil Khabib arc incoming.

Been away all weekend and avoided the news, sat down to watch it and FF through to the Chimaev v Diaz fight before it got spoiled..... was v confused.....

I mean, missing weight is a dick move, but the doctors called it.... not a good look either way and has damaged his generally positive reputation.

Incredible fighter still though, just humiliating very good if not top opposition.... so good to watch. Hope he puts this nonsense behind him.

Pantomime stuff. Watched the last two fights in the boozer. Went pretty much how I expected, Nate controlled tony with ease on the ground. makes me wonder why he waited so long to go down there, unless he was just waiting to get bloodied up.

Damn, Sandhagen’s blood offering for the blood god was the worst cut I’ve ever seen. Can’t even link as it looks like something you’d see on Ogrish back in the day, Song’s forehead looked like someone had swung at it with an axe.
