They have more or less run out of fights they can sell for GSP without more rematches with people he already dominated.

Providing Nick gets by BJ it's another match they can sell, if he loses then he wasn't worth it anyway and the hype for that fight gets killed off, if he wins just fuels the hype fire.
 
Yeah great news... tbh saw it happening cos dana did have that as a plan, rather then bjpenn not having a decent fight giving him nick diaz was perfect... they both can fight for no1 contendership.

Once again poor fitch since he doesnt want to fight bjpenn and only gsp hes left inbetween everyone again...

That was ufcs goal anyway they have already merged a lot of the strikeforce top fighters in the ufc ranks, strikeforce has lost its poster boys fedor and overeem and diaz.... and now hendo, and now cung lee. Perhaps Strikeforce should become an all girl mma organisation :)

I predict the rumours are right strikeforce will fold early 2012... and ufc will just honour any contracts/fights left its just the paperwork at the end of the day.
 
Hmm, he starts going limp at 35secs, Ref stops it at 38secs. Ref didn't look like he was looking at the supporting arm. Kinda hard to tell with a triangle when they go out if they don't tap.
 
Wonder what happen to bamma fights, seems the strikeforce event just dwarfed any mma website lol

Was a good event for strikeforce some nice knocks outs and good fights...

But just like josh asked coker cant we just make it offical and make the winner of the grand prix the new strikeforce heavy weight champ he didnt comit or make it offical.

I think like everyones recently been predicting strikeforce is going....

I think if cormiers hand isnt broken I could see him working on take down defense and just out striking barnett to win, but will be an interesting fight and more likely that guy will head to ufc sooner rather then later :)

Didnt even see any medical staff running in, seemed like the fighter was the medical staff ! they should put that guy in ufc :cool:

I don't think he needs to work on his TDD, he was in the US olympic wrestling team twice haha.

I can see him beating Barnett. His striking looks way better than Barnett's and he definitely has more power.

Barnett is good on top but if he ends up on the bottom I see Cormier pounding him out.
 
I think barnett will take it, hes not gonna stand up and exchange much only for the 1st 1-2 minutes, hes got ok standup but no where on cormiers level.

While cormier has olympic wrestling, I reckon its gonna be a different case of barnett taking him down. You can be a top end wrestler but barnetts just got more mma experience and will get him down. He will just lay flat out and exhaust any hw and gnp or submit will be his way to victory.

Will be interesting too see whos right :) Shame Cormiers hand maybe broken... otherwise its gonna be a long time to find out who really is the champ!
 
It should be a good fight that's for certain. I don't really mind who wins it, just want all these HW's moved over to the UFC as there are lots of exciting match ups to be made.

Cormier has said if he wins and then gets absorbed into the UFC, he will drop to 205 and fight there as he trains with Valasquez and doesn't want the whole fighting a team mate drama ala Evans vs Jones.
 
that fight shoulda been on the main card... u cant give ex-strikeforce champs and put them on the undercard thats just madness.

Anyhow just seems the talk is when were gonna see this hw and awesome fighters from strikeforce fighting in the ufc...
