Rashad Evans is completely right about Rampage, he moves like Frankenstein. I think Jon Jones will prove to be too big for Rampage to be able to land anything on him. Personally I'd love to see Jon Jones knocked out but I think this is a fight where he has the advantage in every aspect. Rampage has to be in tip top condition if he has a chance of beating Jon Jones.

I get the feeling rampage is just gonna stand in front of him and let jon jones just do what ever he wants... spinning back kicks and steven segal front jaw upper kicks, Jon jones may just try the buddah palm punch.

Thats the problem with Jon Jones, the guys just a freak in size and strength just looks like hes tossing people around in his weight class, and even if he feels the slightest bit threatened he can just jab from a mile away.

Rampage can only do some damage if he gets up close and some boxing, or knees.. but thats just gonna be too difficult looks like he would need rashads speed and wrestling to perhaps give jon jones problems, either way cannot wait for Rashad vs Jon Jones !

Yeah I reckon if rampage doesnt win this fight he knows hes got no chance and no point to come back, he will be thrown into the likes of shogun/machida/Evans/forrest...its just too stacked and would require another year or 2 and 3+ fights to get back into contention. Rampage can proberly sign up to a tv series or star in those MMA martial art films :)

Yeah the eventual Jones v Evans fight should be good. He's not fought anyone as quick or athletic as Evans. No doubting the guys talent but he has faced slow fighters who stalk their opponents around the octagon. Evans I'm sure is already in his head and he'll play on that until their fight. But again, that reach advantage will be huge over Evans.

i think machida has the best chance tbh, jon jones's weakness is going to be leg kicks, he has chicken legs.

so anyone with decent leg kicks and a bjj black belt in case jones gets a takedown from a leg kick has the best chance.

stay on the outside and just kick the crap out of those pencil thin legs.

I like the sound of the Jones - Machida match up as well. I agree that Machida's style on paper should work well against Jones.

Totally missed the big news yesterday as well so a nice surprise when browsing here at lunch :)

Shogun? Didn't work out too well for him, he fits your description perfectly ;)

I think a lot of you are underestimating rampage, I can't see Jones KO'ing him. He has a hell of a chin, it's going to come down to if he can stop the takedown, and if he can stop it, can he land on the feet.

If anyone can test Jones chin it will be rampage or perhaps Rashad. I like Jones and he will probably win the fight, but don't think for a second it's a given.

shogun didnt throw a single leg kick, he was too afraid of being taken down.

had he decided against his approach of i'll match him in stand up, he could have probably did some damage.

but watch the fight again, not a single leg kick was thrown by shogun.

It does look like a couple of decent leg kicks could do damage to jones chicken legs, but its still to be seen, while his legs are long and thin hes got some muscle and power in his legs.

And either way look at Jones stance and the way he positions himself during stand up, the guy looks like a giant spider in the octagon I dont think anyones legs are gonna even reach him and if they do not without being taken down or an elbow to the face.

So excited for this fight already! Amazing they pulled it off.

Seems odd though that basically will be #2 contender for the belt yet Brock got battered and surely would have to work his way up? Can see why Overeem would be there to unify the two.

I can't picture both of them in a cage standing opposite each other :o

yeah he does have muscle on them, but i see them as his greatest weakness tbh, they are still tiny compared to anyone else in light heavyweight category.

if shogun had thrown leg kicks, he would have had 10 times better chance of beating him, was surprised he never tried it. too scared of being taken down, which is a loser's mentality.

Jon jones is gonna win simply because of this

An there is a reason why he didn't too, the counter to a kick is a lovely cross. An with Jones wingspan he could land it quite easily.

Also even Shogun said that first knee ended the fight for him, he was just hanging on with heart after that.

I think a rematch would be quite different.

Can he do much better then this though ?

I think shogun needs to take out another 1-2 top 5 guys before getting another shot, even if it means taking out machida/rampage/evans/davis, id say same applies for machida even.

Jon Jones will win in the first round. The kid is going to be something special in years to come. Jones vs Silva would be a fight of the century.

Overeem vs Lesner is a strange fight. Brock's last win was in july 2010 and overeem hasn't ever fought in the UFC. Then again, Overeem has won the majority of his fights in the first round.

For me, GSP like Anderson Silva is 20% above every other fighter in his weight class at the moment. Saying that, it's hard to get excited over someone who fights like he isn't fighting. I can marvel over his skill level, but he won't get me jumping out of my seat.
I agree, but I don't think he's fighting to his full potential. He's playing it safe. 'Fighting to not lose' if yo ulike. Although he does have the ability to finish people convincingly. I just don't think he wants to risk it.
