**The Official Everything MMA Related Thread**

yeah its 2012... I hope they revamp and work out the issues ufc on fox will be great but yeah it needs to be done a lot better, a lot of folk are saying this was just a teaser anyhow.

The real deal and 7 year contract starts jan 2012 on fox....

Dan henderson Vs shogun.... goose bumps already, Dan coming back to the ufc on a fight streak and that H bomb + with good recovery especially at his more better weight class. Should be interesting fight indeed and its this coming weekend !

weekend after its bones vs machida I belive ?

Soooo,

Looking forward, the one I've been waiting for since it was signed. Two PRIDE legends, Shogun vs Hendo - opinions people?

Personally I think it all depends on the Hendo that shows up, if we get Decision Dan then its going to be a hard night for Shogun. Henderson will be able to take him down, and wear him out, eat away at Shoguns cardio and then hes got a good chance of taking it late in the 2nd or the 3rd.

H-Bomb Hendo shows up... then the fight only gos one way. Shogun hits just as hard, has just as a good a chin (possibly even better, Shogun has been rocked once in his entire career?) and has a much better arsenal of strikes.

What do you guys think?

Yeah got similar feelings also... hendos got a good chin and recovery also but as you say depends how he will be.

This is not exactly a easy fight for his welcome back to ufc fight....

Shogun looks like hes hungry again and thats deadly, he can take damage also...

Bookies are in favour of shogun winning it atm

Really hard one to call frankly, which means its gonna be a war

I'm hating all this FOX stuff, it feels crap compared to how it was all shown before. I preferred the old style of showing the fights.

As for the main fight, just feel disappointed that it was over so quick, I was hoping for a 5 round war. :(

EDIT: They said Cung Lee is fighting soon, I have only been watching MMA like 2 years or something and am sure I read or saw somewhere he used to be an amazing MMA fighter and champion? How long did he retire for, and howcome he's decided to come back? Do you reckon he'll be good or not?

he went off acting. he was strikeforce champion at middleweight and was unbeaten in kickboxing. amazing mma fighter would be generous he hasnt faced the toughest competition during his career

Cung Lee should be an interesting fight next weekend also especially against the axe killer....

I think it styles well wandy aint gonna come out rushing thats for sure lol, and im sure cung lee will be throwing his spinning back kick once or twice.

I've lost all respect for Dana White.

Those were pathetic post fight comments, completely tore down Junior Dos Santos and effectively discredited his validity as a champion. Pathetic.

So happy Junior won, such a great role model.

Axe murderer - I had to correct it as Wanderlei deserves the respect!

Edit: Who's the little guy who enters the ring and congratulates the fighters after ever fight?

Completely agree. This is what Dana White said about the fight after the press conference:

Listen, I'm no strategist and I'm nobody's coach but I don't understand why they didn't go for the shot early. They should have shot in on Junior Dos Santos knowing that he has the power early in the fight and tries to knock you out. But the truth is that Junior Dos Santos gets tired at the end of fights, you know? Here he is standing right in front of him trying to trade and bang with Junior Dos Santos and gets hit with that big right hand right behind the ear and down he goes. Down goes his heavyweight championship. I'll say it again, not saying that I'm some strategy coach but I don't know why they wouldn't take the shot on him and wrestle early.

It's one thing to feel a fight out but when you're standing right in front of a guy that you know his biggest weapons are his hands and he can knock you out and this thing is a five round fight. Get in there and start working him. Stay busy and put him against the fence. Rough him up and tire him out a little bit and bring it into the later rounds where Junior Dos Santos is well known for getting tired.

Words fail me. Not only does he give little credit to Dos Santos, he buries Cain too.

'But the truth is that Junior Dos Santos gets tired at the end of fights'

Up until that fight, his record was:

14 fights
13 wins
10 knockouts in first round
2 unanimous decisions
1 submission
1 loss (first round submission)

So a grand total of 3 fights getting to the third round. And he didn't look anymore tired than any other fighter I've seen in the third round. He throws big power punches, the damage he inflicted on Carwin was crazy and Nelson took one hell of a beating too. It just shows you how much punishment both those guys can take, when it took 64 seconds to knockout Velasquez. Dana throwing a hissy fit because he really wanted a fight of Griffin vs Bonnar proportions.

Cung le will no doubt KO Wandy, but really he isn't that great. More flash than anything, some people thought he was the second coming until he got battered by the decidedly average Scott Smith. Great offense but can't take a shot.

Right so espn will still have fights when the fox.deal kicks in?
So for us uk fans we need ESPN and primetime? Not looking forward to that might just cancel espn

I agree that he isn't going to set the UFC alight, but saying he can't take a hit because he got KO'd by Smith is a load of rubbish.

Smith has very heavy hands, he has 17 wins and 14 of those are by knockout.

I actually think he will beat Wand, he has much more technical striking and KO power of his own, 7 MMA wins 7 KO's.

Wand is a shadow of his former self these days, in his prime it wouldn't even have been a contest.

This is true but I cannot bring myself to like Kung Lee, ergo, Wand will win and go on to beat up Bisping again after Bisping loses to Mayhem.

Bisping will then be relegated to just British headline cards where he fights other non American personalities who don't really stand a chance at the top of the devision like Bisping.

Good luck to whoever Cain fights next, he's going to railroad someone after that performance.

Hopefully Overeem :D

Would like Brock to beat Overeem, Brock faces JDS for the title (and will lose) and Overeem gets Cain.

Although I think it'll be the other way around. Overeem beats Brock. Overeem gets the title shot and Brock gets his rematch. Albeit not for the title.

I honestly think Brock will be the champion again in 2012, but I don't really rate him highly as a mixed martial artist, as a wrestler though he is great - and his size and strength really helps that. Overeems TDD isn't great and I don't think it will be at a level to stop Brock even after training at Extreme Couture. The same thing is my thought as to why Brock will beat JDS - JDS has a torn knee ligament which needs surgery this is gonna further hamper him in stopping Brock taking him down. Brock won't be foolish enough to stand for any longer than nescassary with both Overeem and JDS.
