I found an MMA documentary, some of you old timers that have watched the sport of MMA longer then I have (2 years or so) will probably already know who this is and will have seen this documentary before...but for those of you that havent seen it I really enjoyed this when I watched it last night.

It was recommended to me from a friend who has been watching MMA since it started 17 years ago or whenever it was...sorry if I got the time frame mixed up. I might be explaining this completely wrong by my friend said "he was the first mma champion in the UFC".

The documentary shows quite a lot actually, it talks about him and this other guy, and drug abuse the fighters go through and also the politics with what happened in the past in america with UFC and everything moving to PRIDE in japan when the US public didnt like MMA at the time.

I hope I get at least one thank you for this linK! haha

removed - swearing :D

Brock is loving that result on Saturday night.

It's a case of styles make fights and I could actually see Brock beating Junior unfortunately, providing he gets past Overeem of course.

I honestly think Brock will be the champion again in 2012, but I don't really rate him highly as a mixed martial artist, as a wrestler though he is great - and his size and strength really helps that. Overeems TDD isn't great and I don't think it will be at a level to stop Brock even after training at Extreme Couture. The same thing is my thought as to why Brock will beat JDS - JDS has a torn knee ligament which needs surgery this is gonna further hamper him in stopping Brock taking him down. Brock won't be foolish enough to stand for any longer than nescassary with both Overeem and JDS.

Should Lesnar beat Overeem and then take on Dos Santos, he's going to outweigh him easily by 30-40lbs come fight night. Dos Santos could fairly easily fight at light heavyweight, at the minute he's probably only 7lbs off Jon Jones walking weight between fights. Now that would be a fight! Jones vs Dos Santos!

Lesnar is my favourite out of all MMA fighters for the simple reason I get more excited for his fights then any other, maybe Anderson Silva close 2nd. I really hope brock beats overeem but I think its going to be a tough fight for him.

I've never thought of brock as a well rounded fighter and I hope he just shoots for takedowns, that should be his only gameplan in my opinion. If he stays stood up he'll prob get knocked out as his boxing sucks compared to everyone elses.

EDIT: Another thing I regret about brock is that I kinda wish he had not got the title so quickly, I think it would have been better for him to have more fights before becoming the champion but I think also on top of what I just said people forget that recently brock has done better at holding the belt then others, everyone else seems to win, get the belt, and then lose the belt again straight away with their next fight.

Just looked this up out of interest and it seems the last person before Brock to manage two successful defences of the title was Tim Sylvia in 2006.

I don't think they've done Brock any favours by giving him Overeem. With the illnesses he's had, the men he's fought previously and his lack of overall experience they should have built him back up with a match against CroCop, Nelson, Struve or one of the up and comers before throwing him to the wolves again.

Cung le will no doubt KO Wandy, but really he isn't that great. More flash than anything, some people thought he was the second coming until he got battered by the decidedly average Scott Smith. Great offense but can't take a shot.

Well, to be fair he beat the snot out of Scotty, until the comeback king did his thing. He has a wierd kicking style which has seemed to be very hard to deal with, but I agree with you, I think Wandy gets KO'd in the first or 2nd.

I really dont see Lesnar beating Ubereem, no matter how I look at it. Lesnar does not like getting punched in the face... I know what you're thinking, who does? - but look at Lesnar vs Carwin, and Lesnar vs Cain, straight away he turtles up, theres no head movement, he just looks to get out of there. As good as his wrestling is, all fights start standing, and unless he can get Overeem on his back almost instantly he is going to have to be in striking range at some point... and thats going to end badly!

As for Wanderlei vs Cung Le - I'm really shocked that everybody is expecting Wandy to get KTFO. Silva has struggled since he came to the UFC, but mainly against people with one shot knockout power - ie Rampage, Leben - his chin is shot, we all know that. However Cung Le isnt going to take you out with one kick, its the accumulation of shots that does the damage, so I think its going to be far more competitve than people are suggesting. I'm thinking its going to be a back and forth battle along the lines of Franklin vs Silva (Wanderlei Silva, not Anderson Silva) - and I see it ending in a brutal KO for the Axe Murderer. Of course, that could well be PRIDE never die rose tinted glasses I'm wearing...

You do realise that every win of Cung Le's is by Ko/TKo right?

He has one shot power in both his kicks and his punches.

Of course, but I swear I remember both the Scott Smith fights he wore him out with an accumulation of shots, same with Frank Shamrock, it was the broken arm that ended the fight early not a KO.

I don't know, I've always doubted the power in those kicks. I think they're exciting, they look great... they certainly wear you down, but I just dont see them knocking Wandy out...

Whats the betting I'm eating a massive slice of humble pie come Sunday?

Shamrock got his arm broken with one of these flashy good looking kicks ;)

Smith was KO'd with a spin kick to the liver, and the same for Sammy Morgan.

The others were all punches I believe.

They both have the ability to finish each other that's for sure, I just think Wandys time is up.

:D

I watched this last night. Really enjoyed it. It was way before my time of watching MMA though so I don't know a lot about it.

bookies give Cung Le the general nod to win this sat.... its true hes lost one fight and rest of the 7 were all knockouts... quite impressive.

Wandy has the experience but failed in the ufc... think he has more losses in ufc then wins, and hes been defeated by top names mainly but got bisping I guess.
Fight could go either way with mma... a lot are writing wandy off but I guess he knows hes out if he looses saturday.... and Cung Les ufc debut he has to win.

Both need to win frankly so will be a war, just dunno who will win !

After Cains destruction im not sure whos gonna win with hendo/shogun !

I wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar asked for the fight. I completely agree that they should have given him an 'easier' fight, but I bet he wants to get that belt back more than anything and sees this fight as the way to become no.1 contender. I'd be really surprised if Brock beats Overeem but stranger things have happened.

Lets not forget Brock vs JDS was suppose to happen end of 2010 anyhow...

In Brocks eyes hes already and still the no1 contender he just needed a fight to proove he should get a shot for the belt. Against Overeem not an easy task at all, apparantly Brocks improved in "something" in his training camp and hes ready to show it off against Overeem... I just dunno if he can lift his leg up so high to do a front kick to overeems jaw.

The Lesnar vs. Overeem fight is going to be interesting as neither fighter likes to get hit. What Brock is still failing to do is join a proper training camp where he's exposed to a higher calibre of coaches and fighters to train with. This is holding him back. If he adopted Coutures approach to most fights, press up against the cage and dirty box and then plant on the mat for some ground and pound, he'd be lethal with his size. He never really seems to go into a fight with a game plan. He's got all the attributes to be an absolute beast in the heavyweight division, better coaching and keeping a calmer head when he does get hit would benefit him more than his current routine.

For those who enjoy watching Bisping being KO'd - Free to watch atm in really good quality

Lovely lovely. I can never get bored watching Bisping getting knocked out. :D

Nobody likes being hit in reality.

But saying Overeem doesn't like being hit is a bit silly, he competed in K1, a sport where being hit is inevitable. If he really didn't like being hit he wouldn't have bothered.

Brock literally ducks his head and shys away when he is being hit, I've never seen Reem cowering away from an exchange.
