No, much further back 05 or 06. Although it wasn't perfect back then and its still being tweaked for 09.
Could have sworn it was newer than that. FM07 or something. :)

I've never had the patience or skill to get a game going to a time in the distant future where all the stars and potential stars have long gone and it is a world of regens. But I've heard stories about problems with regens even in FM08. Something about the best regens having fantastic technical stats but quite poor physical stats.

I know it was earlier as I beta tested that release. :)

The longest game I played was 14 seasons. I get bored once I win some trophies and always want to start again as some other team so its not been a big issue for me.

Hmm don't believe you! :p

My problem is I can't stand to not manage Man Utd. So after I win titles I get bored but I can't defect to anyone else. :(:p

I may still have the emails from SI inviting me to test somewhere. If I can be bothered to find them I'll post them here. :D

As a Liverpool fan I can't bring myself to manage Utd. Even when starting career games when I've worked myself up and get offered the job I have to refuse - I know I'd quit after a I accepted as it would feel wrong. ;)

I recon i could do well with United with the Debts.
Keep the team for a year, win everything, hopefully, netting lots of cash.
Then sell off all the big and/or old stars and buy in young stars on the cheap, 2-4 seasons of midtable/top4 and bobs your uncle! :p.

Go on then! :D Show us screenshots along the way as proof. :p

Jesus christ. Unbeaten until game 36 again, then crush Liverpool by 22 shots to 5 and somehow lose 1-0. I swear it's a curse or something. This is the fourth time I've gone 32 league games or more without losing and then lost to a club that my team should effortlessly beat with their eyes shut.

I'm beginning to believe that it's hardcoded into the stupid game that if you get within 5 matches of an unbeaten season you get thrown a loss no matter what.

2023 woah did you sim for a few years or did you actually play through? Think it was 07 or 06 i got bored of starting teams from there respective team base so i just put on the Go On Holiday then went out one night by the time i got home it was 2018 or something so i played from there as a random team. Was pretty hard not knowing a single player in the game or well barely any of them was playing anyway

I've played through, been at Leeds the whole time - 7 days 7 hours play time so far.

Re. going on holiday until all the original players retire, isn't there an option you can check to not use real players when you start a game? I'd have thought that was simpler, I've never used it myself though. Takes a surprisingly long time for all the current players to filter out, even in 2023 Bojan and Mamadou Sakho are still getting the odd game for my team.

That is some going.

I see what Man Utd are not doing too well there. How managers did they have since Fergie left?

Fergie quit in 2010, then it was Steve Coppell from '10 to '17. Summer of 2017 Roy Keane took over (with whom I had an epic war of words as Man U and Leeds battled for domestic supremacy - that was ace), then since 2020 they've gone fairly quickly through a succession of managers - Bob Bradley, Mark Hughes, John McDermott, John Carver - who haven't been able to stop the slide. They got relegated last season hehehehehe.
