Two questions..

I'm off away for a bit and have put FM08 on my eee PC using an external CD Drive, I don't want to take the CD drive with me so is there anyway to play the game withouut my CD?

Also does anyone know where I can download the latest transfer update from the last transfer window that works with the 8.0.2 patch? Robinhio at Man C etc

Thanks

You can get patched executables that bypass the cd check (I use one for the sake of convenience), but they're intended for piracy, so I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed to mention where you can get them. Hopefully I'm not in contravention of forum rules by saying they aren't that hard to find.

The Weegie update used to be the best for this sort of thing, IIRC the guy has done one for the '08 transfer window, if you google 'weegie update' it should be pretty straightforward to find and install.

Thanks for reply, I checked that guys website and it appears his last update was uploaded on May 1st 2008 so not the september one unfortunately. People may not have bothered with FM2009 on the horizon but I'll keep looking!

Go on then! :D Show us screenshots along the way as proof. :p
Cant be bothered. :p. They're not Milan so im not interested. :p.

Decided to go for youth over new players.
Got given a £92m transfer budget. I used £21m on Veloso to replace Ambrosini and picked my new ST and DL from my youth team.

GK: Akinfeev / Agliardi
DL: De Ceglie / Vidal
DC: Barzagli / Kaladze
DC: Bonera / Atienza
DR: Lahm / Villafane
MC: Pirlo / Veloso
MC: Flamini / Gatusso
AMC: Ronaldinho / Pato
AMC: Kaka / Montolivo
AMC: Gourcuff / Rosina
ST: Benzema / Bonini

Average squad age is 25.
Next replacements:
1 season: Gatusso & Kaladze
2 seasons: Pirlo
3 seasons: Ronaldinho
4 seasons: Bonera & Barzagli
5 seasons: Kaka

Should be an interesting season, seeing how Bonini & Villafane bed in...

It was updated recently. I downloaded it after the transfer window closed - its just that he always updates the link in his original post so it looks like 1st May was the last update.

They wouldn't have bothered doing another update so close to FM09. And with FM09 being out in November they'd probably not bother with one in December as two months later they'd have to do the transfer window update.

We're talking about third-party database editor types here, not Sports Interactive - there are always a bunch of spods that release a new DB update at the end of each transfer window, regardless of how close the new release of FM is.

I just logged into the Weegie forum to check, and the last update was on 8th September and apparently is fully up to date as of the beginning of the 08/09 season.

Yes I know what you are talking about. I've used the FM Weegie update myself.

Yes they probably would have done an 08/09 season but I doubt you'd see many more before FM09.

Well... an 08/09 season update was what the guy was asking for? I agree with you that we probably won't see any more independent DB updates for FM08 but that's neither here nor there.

Looking good. :)
Bonini is doing stunning for me. Just turned 17 and he's got 14 goals.
Ronaldinho is having a stunning season, 30 games, 18 goals, 19 assists! :D
And Benezema is keeping up the good work, top scorer at the moment with 24 goals.
Im planning on replacing Kaladze with a 20year old from my youth team who looks quite handy, but im still gonna see if i can sign SergioRamos. :p.
Gatusso will be replaced as well, if i can get Bolzoni on the cheap. If not, i'll keep him for another season.

Ive noticed that i can get DeSilvestri for £14m from Real, but with me already having two DRs, i dont really need him. :(.

Just to try and clear this up - you can download the latest Weegie FM 08 data update from their website. Its not as clearly marked as it could be and can appear to some to be an update from 1st May 08. When in fact it has all the transfers in 2008 up to 08-09-08.

I hope we can all now devote our attention to FM. :p

Which brings nicely onto my Reading team - we just beat West Brom in the Carling Cup Final. :D

Won the league by 15 points and won Real in the CL final on penalties. Got given a £89m budget.

Im waiting for Bolzoni, Gatussos replacement, to accept his contract, he cost me £9.5m. Leaving me with £79.5m in the bank.

I recon i can sell Lahm, whos 27, for £15m, and then get DeSilvestri for £14m.
DeSilvestri is technically the better player in every department, but doesnt handle the big games very well aparentely......thoughts?

Decided to carry on my Milan game, I use three-four team rotations including;

GK: Julio Cesar / Agliardi / Cesar / Fabianski
DL: Chiellini / Zambrotta / Chiellini / Ceglie
DC: Fazio / Felipe / Bonera / Nesta
DC: Felipe / Bonera / Nesta / Fazio
DR: Ramos / Lahm / Ramos / Ramos
MC: Flamini / Pirlo / Pirlo / Flamini
MC: Gattuso / Veloso / Gattuso/ Veloso
AMC-L: Silva / Aguero / Ronaldinho / Pato
AMC: Kaka / Montolivo / Montolivo / Montolivo
AMC-R: Messi / Rosina / Rosina / Rosina
ST: Nihat / Adriano / Adriano / Adriano

Thats four rotations, basically it goes:

1st team / 2nd team / Mix team / Gain apps team

Got a few people to start rotating in, when needed in my youth team.

Once a few of them get older, it'll be easier. But the likes of Nesta, Gattuso, Zambrotta, Cesar, Pirlo, Nihat will all start dropping down the pecking order, as they are 30+.

Squad average age is 26 atm, which for 2010, isn't too bad considering!

My over 30s are:

Nihat, Pirlo, Cesar, Zambrotta, Gattuso, Nesta and Beckham (got him free, still bangs in some assists, played 7, 5 assists so far!).

Basically in next couple seasons I have already got the players that will replace them;

Nihat / Bojan
Pirlo / Zapater
Cesar / Fabianski
Zambrotta / Ceglie
Gattuso / Forestieri
Nesta / Albertazzi
Beckham / Andre

Then theres a few others that will be replacements for Ronaldinho and the like.
