I only got £8mill for toni and £3.3mill for Klose

the toni transfer was a drunken mistake, however in the second season Klose had personal problems, I let him go on a leave of absence ( a month each) at least 3 times, his value plummeted and when it looked like he needed a fourth i just got rid tbh.
Hmm I love this game/football in general. I want a player from another team he'll cost me £30-40m. If they want to get rid of him he's sold for a much lower value.

Just noticed. :)
I've just added it to the first post. :)
Ive signed Bojans father as a scout, so now Bojan the player is interested in coming. Im thinking of off loading Gilardino & Amauri, rotating between Bojan & Pato, and having my rarely used 3rd choice ST as being one of my better youngsters.
Bojans buyout is £23m. I have, mid way through the season, £59m in the transfer kitty.
Mind telling me what Bojan's father is called? I can never get Bojan to leave Barca for Man Utd so if I can hold his father to ransom! :D Got FM running and I've checked, is it Bojan Krkic? And that'd be Alexandre Pato? He's probably the best young striker in the game for me apart from Sergio Aguero, as in young to be full of potential but old enough to be good enough to play regularly unlike some younger strikers who might need a few years in the reserves/on loan with the odd first team appearance to get ready.

memphisto - Just tried the link and it isn't working. I've found your SI Games forum thread and will add that link there instead. :)

Blimey! Nice squad. Who are you managing? AC Milan?

I agree that Aguero would be a wasted signing but after a few years with Utd and when I have some money and a decent squad I tend to go after Arsenal/Chelsea targets to try and stop them dominating the league by er dominating the league myself. :D

Scouting knowledge for that area of the world, helpful if you don't have a good knowledge of that country/league. If it is a big club (ie a foreign giant) then you can benefit commercially, say in Japan or big US clubs. You'll get fans of that club aware of you and so they buy merchandise from you, I think.

Plus it is a good way to get youth players out on loan to gain experience. Sometimes, depending on the deal your club arranged, you can get first choice on their players. So a rival of your affilliate club makes a bid of £x milllion for the player. If you match the bid, the club has to accept your bid as well, leaving the player concerned to choose who he signs for, if at all.

so how the heck do you get half good players in? i'm saints, just got promoted to the prem and it's close season.... really need some good players, the board don't send scouts overseas, can that be changed?
Perhaps you need to increase/improve your reputation as a club and stay in the Premiership for a few years to demonstrate to the board a stability?

If you've got a young keeper then see if you can get him to "interact" with an older keeper who has better kicking. Just tell him he could learn from so and so or could do with copying so and so' approach to the game. After a while, your younger keeper should "learn the moves" of the older player. Not so sure if this would work as well with keepers as for outfield players.

Tell you what I do find weird with FM08 is this player is similar to someone else. A player can have one player in their friend list, then is similar to another player and then the coaches say that you should get him to train with another player.

And I find it so stupid that I have a youth player who is a DR. Not even a DRC. And who do the coaches suggest I get to mentor him? A DL. Not a DLC! No, no DC similarity here.

I find it's good practice to bring in several of the 16/17 year olds with PA's of 165+ and mentoring them. Make a good player out of them in the future, or alternativley make a good profit. Lulinha is a fine example, starts at 17 in Corinthians - cost me £3m and has a PA of 192. Will be a goldmine, if i ever decide to sell. There are plenty you can get on a free too. Henri Saivet comes to mind.

There is a huge list on the SI boards, I'll have to find the link. Apologies if it has been mentioned previously.
I quite like doing this as well. :D

Henri Saivet I do normally get quite cheap. Under a million. Bojan is almost impossible to tempt to Old Trafford. Longer term I try to get Alexandre Pato.

It's a bit cheaty, but at it's only presenting information, rather than editing it. Rather that than trust my moronic scouts.

"Buy James Vaughn, he's awesome, and clearly better than your current #1 striker Fernando Torres"
Yeah. :D I found FM05/06 quite funny when you get a scout report on a very promising youth player. The game then compares them to your best player and says he's rubbish. Er yes but my player is established and at the top of his game. This youth player is young and not even 20 yet. So although he's brilliant and the game finds one little fault, I can't help but think that the game should recognise the comparative ages of the players and say that the youth player isn't anywhere near the older player NOW but in the future.....

They can yes. You just carry on. You'd get the game patch, if there is one but you wouldn't benefit from the transfer update. But then SI do normally recommend starting a new game when you install the patch. Hence why some people just play FM out of the box and only get the transfer patch.

They always wait until early Feb to release the next patch. There is never a cast iron guarantee that SI will release any patches to fix the BUGS. However they almost always release a data/transfer patch in early Feb. Obviously they have to wait until the end of January for the transfer window to open.

So we're pretty much guaranteed an 8.0.2 data patch but sometimes SI slip in a bug fix patch as well.

Yeah that is really quite annoying. There's always this rumour about superkeepers in the game that SI repeatedly deny. Pretty much the rumour is that a really rubbish keeper can keep out the best strikers in the world. Makes some people very angry that a) it happens (they think) and b) SI deny it.

And long shots is also frustrating. Man Utd have a few players who can score from long shots and I buy in new players who are also good at this so its pretty annoying when they never score from a long shot.
