Surely that does work correctly in FM2008? In my game, my scouts look at the current rating compared to your best player but also the potential rating. If you have good scouts, found this to be quite accurate - comparing to actual potential ratings using FMScout. Also youngsters get 'silver' stars which indicates potential as opposed to gold ones. I find the additional scouting to be extremely valuable as they suggest whether a player is likely to sign for you or not, what wages they are likely to want and whether that player would the the 1st/2nd/3rd/4th choice player in a particular position if they joined.
Hmm yes that works. But when a player is 16 and I get told not to sign them because of their stamina being 7 or something.

na i think someone mentioned earlier in this thread that sometimes a person when controlled by AI is amazing but in the same position controlled by player he's not as good.
Yeah I hate it when that happens. I have players who are crap. I sell them off. They then play against me later on and are so much better its a joke.

What do people find the best tactics? My tactic is to pack out the midfield, once i controll it, i can usually control the game.

ST
AML AMR
MC MC
WBL WBR
DC DC DC (or one less DC and extra ST) Attacking style with Man2Man marking and closing down.

I have 2 amazing jumping heading DC, Sonko and bike. and nicky shorey when at WBL seems to have gogo gadget rocket skates on as he intercepts everything and no one gets past.
On the SI Forums' Good Players Guide Man Utd thread the classic 4-4-2 is good for the original squad but after a while the 4-2-3-1 seems to be popular. 4 defenders. A DMC, an MC, 3 AMs (AML, AMC, AMR) and an FC/ST. I presume with Utd the AMC could be Rooney and the FC/ST Tevez and they just swap around.

I don't think there is a magic number really. You need to have enough in the bank to finance an improvement in facilities. Say the stadium needed upgrading, then the bigger the proposed/required upgrade, the more money the club would need to have.

Do you mean your training facilities then? I was going to say for a stadium upgrade you need to be regularly filling your stadium as full as possible and have an average attendance as close to the maximum capacity as possible. At Old Trafford I'm still on 76k and I probably average 70k. I've asked for a stadium upgrade as I can normally get 85k or something after one or two seasons.

If you do mean training facilities then the board might wait until they are quite old before upgrading them.

 I don't?

He starts off at Sao Paulo I think and is 18 at the beginning of the game so if you are in 2010/11 he should be 20/21. I just searched for him with 'Breno' and he's nearer the bottom of the list.

Well Breno will have been bought by Reggina or Empoli. And then the other club would have offered £x million to co-own him. Seems to be quite an Italian thing I think.

No the saved game you have only has your results, players, teams etc in. The game uses the FM.exe and other files for the match engines etc. So any patches to keeper/striker issues should show up in the new game as the saved game uses FM.exe which would be patched up. :)

Guys, what do you reckon will make FM run better? More RAM or a dual core processor?

I don't what is uses more of?
Hmm I would say its almost 50:50. A dual core processor would make the game run faster during the processing but more RAM would also help.

How much RAM do you have now? What processor do you have? Depending on your answer, RAM may be a better upgrade and so may processor.

Are you able to afford both? :p Easy answer, get both! :D

Yeah I know it'll work on Vista Noto. ;) I just want to make sure that Andybtsn is going to be running Vista x64 otherwise his PC won't be able to use all the 4Gb RAM he's just bought. :)

Although on a quadcore machine with 4gb ram, theres only 5-10 seconds of result generation time where i can work :D /Mr Burns grin and hand rubbing EXCELLENT! l GO ON THE ROYALS!!!!
I've just decided that I don't like you for some reason.

Don't know why! :p

Single core 3700 here. Would like to get an Opteron dual core but seeing as I'm hoping for a summer/autumn move to Intel Core2Duo or even Quad I can't really see the point in going dual core now, well apart from being able to put this PC to more intensive use when I get a new one. :p

Oh Marc how do you explain this.

Ive just looked at the Copa American 2011 competition, England are in it

Im sorry but is'nt it just for South American teams?
I like the way you ask me like it's my fault! :p

Erm I think the Copa America has space for 2 invited teams. There are 10 teams such as Brazil, Argentina etc. And then they invited another two teams. Mexico seem to be invited a lot irl. There are no rules about who the other invited teams/confederations are so it could be possible in real life for England and Japan say to be invited I think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_America

So England won the World Cup recently in your game and thus got invited? Perhaps they beat a normal Copa America team in the final?
