Waiting for delivery of Vodafone GNex ordered Monday. Here is deal I got:
24 months, free handset, 600 mins talk, unlimited txt, 1GB data, BTOpenZone 1GB, 100 free picture messages for £ 31.
Some folks here wanted SIM free, some folks want 12 or 18 months.I invested in SureSignal box to improve phone call reception in home with thick walls that screw around with 3G big time. Viisitors have to make calls in the garden! So Vodafone natural choice. But I threatened to leave because I was unhappy that Vodafone was taking so long to launch and better deals elsewhere mentioned on this Board. Anyway, opted to stay with Vodafone in the end. So over two years pay £ 744. How does that sound to you?
where is currently the cheapest place to buy one of these sim free? i wouldnt mind buying one this week, if they are in stock anywhere.
Anyone rooted their Nexus's ?
Got a few questions:
-- Can i put a different recovery on without either A) losing all my existing data & B) Having to root?
-- Is there a way to root without losing my data (took ages to transfer music!)
-- Does rooting remove the ability to get OTAs?
I used Amazon. 515 + 6 for first class delivery. Ordered on Sunday afternoon and it was with me by Monday evening.
thanks
i might see if i can pick one up somewhere in central london or bluewater as it saves missed deliveries.
oh, and is anyone elses Nexus charging REALLY slowly?
Been on charge now for 1h50mins, and its only gone to 38% in that time.
That's from a wall charger with the same output as the one it came with (5v 1A).
A colleagues Nexus has gone up 12% off USB to his desktop in 15mins...
##EDIT##
From that 1h50mins = 38%, which works out at 0.42% per minute.
Its now gone from 38% to 46% (8%) in a further 24 minutes, which works out at 0.33% per minute
I am sincerely hoping that the charge time is because the battery is still getting 'run in'. Because i'll be gutted if the GN is actually faulty.
(Bare in mind that all this charging is with Airplane mode on).

Sorted, just picked up a week-old one for £410 delivered from AVForums![]()
Resolved: Changed charger. lol.sounds faulty - full charge should be between 2-3 hours. Atleast 30% per hour. There is no conditioning time.
Dont the OTAs remove root though? You need root to install recovery, and to get root you have to unlock the bootloader which wipes the device.
OTAs will still arrive if your ROM is compatible with them.
