ok so here is a picture of my phone

i was just wondering which would be the best option to get it fixed?

1. I took it to to a some phone doctor place, who wasn't even sure what phone it was, but then said he could do it for £50, and it will be a couple days. It sounded dodgy to me.

2. I took it to carphone warehouse, who claim it will be sent to professional engineers, they do it for £170, and it will be a couple weeks.

3. I still have 1st month free insurance from phones4u, the excess is £50 plus £6.99 a month for however long. But i was gonna cancel this as i don't trust insurance companies, and i have no idea where the phone will end up, and for how long.

I don't mind the cost so much, i'd prefer it fixed once and for it to stay fixed. Does anyone know of a better way?

yeah the insurance is with http://www.policyadmin.co.uk
I couldn't print off a claim form, and i couldn't get hold of anyone on the phone today.
I've never had to claim for a phone before so i don't really know what to expect. In the T&Cs they say they can replace it with refurbished phone, or if it can't be fixed they'll send a replacement or equivalent phone of their choice. Up to 3 days to access the damage, then they'll let me know the outcome, then they fix it for up to 2 weeks..
Sounds to me like a screw job and i'll end up with some random god knows what after waiting a month, when all i want is the nexus screen fixed.

Or am i reading too much into it? Me and insurance companies haven't always seen eye to eye.
Well if you think it will be alright, i'll give them a ring tomorrow

there is no equivalent at the moment and no refurbished ones ( I would think so)
so they would need to give you a new one or fix this one...

dude what happened?

ok well in my defense i've previously used a desire & an iphone in terms of smartphones, and they've accidently been launched across a room, in some way or another, without even a scratch amazing.

and i guess when your used to man handling a phone in a certain manor, its had to adjust, i think the nexus is very flimsy, and thin, too thin, and slippery. It feels like you could crack it just by gripping it too hard, and its too plasticy around the back. I mean it fell off a table and cracked, its a pathetic way to go out. It would have been funny if i didn't like it so much.
Honestly, it should come with some sort of warning like, Must look after it like a new born baby.

Ah well never mind. i'll try insurance tomorrow, but i must get this off my chest, if they send me back some sort of blackberry equivalent i'll probably send it back to them in pieces.

Are you allowed to record a phone call if you tell them you're recording it? I would be tempted to call and record a discussion with them in advance that there isn't an equivalent right now. This phones USP is ICS and no other phone has this. Get them to agree and store the recording somewhere safe while they have your Nexus.

Maybe confirm with them, if they can't fix or give you a new one, you would prefer your Nexus back and cancel your insurance over them sending you something else.

why cancel? whtas wrong? anyways i recmommend Natwest banking phone insurance. my wife got her iphone 4s stolen a few weeks ago and the insurer transfered the money it costs for the handset. no fuss

As far as i'm aware, you don't even need to tell them as long as the recording is not shared with a third party. If you only want to keep it as a record of what they have said, that is fine. If you plan to share it with anyone else at all, then you need their consent.

Maybe someone else can confirm as well. I looked into this a while back so maybe info is outdated.

i get, travel insurance, mobile insurance for 2 handsets + plus breakdown cover for £7 a month at llodys, cover both my wife and I, so £3.50 each really :)
