***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Noticed a slight issue with my screen.
It appears to have everso slightly darker vertical lines in the middle of the screen.
Its only really noticeable when the screen is displaying a solid colour (ie white on the google, or blue on the forum). At work so can't take a picture, just wondering is this a issue with the pentile screens in general, or should i look to get it returned.

They've got a great deal on there with T-Mobile:

18 months
900 mins
500 txts
500MB data plus Unlimited Web and Email

£35.75/month
£29.99 for the phone

I think that's the best i've seen - can anyone suggest a better tariff before i bite the bullet?

If you can afford to pay £200ish straight off you can go for one of the three deals which is £17 which works out at £26/month over 24 months.

Does anyone know if its possible to some how link a Galaxy Nexus to my in car sound system? It has a usb port so I presume I can just get a usb>mini usb converter cable and jobs a good'n?

Or is it not as simple as that? :p

I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus yesterday, so just thought I'd share my views so far.
Build quality obviously isn't going to compete, but saying that I don't think it's too bad. However since putting the battery in the back cover doesn't fit perfectly, on my phone at least there's a slight raised area on the cover as if it hasn't been clicked in (it has!).
Setting up took no time at all, and it updated smoothly too.
The screen is lovely, not as bright as the iPhones and white seems to have a yellowy tinge but it's still a really great screen.
I'm enjoying having a notification LED too.
Texting is a joy, had absolutely no problems so far and can type accurately. Autocorrect is just great, too.
I'll hold judgements on the camera until later but I'd guess that it's about on par with the 4's.
Battery life worries me though, today is the first day starting from a full charge and after being off the charger and just moderately using facebook and messaging it's already down by 16% after 50 min.
ICS seems alright. It's definitely not as smooth as iOS but that wasn't really expected although it does have more slowdowns than I'd have liked for a phone of these specs. Browsing photos on facebook and scrolling will slow right down, or even opening a 142Kb .doc email attachment and it considerably slows down.
Some live wallpapers definitely aren't optimised for the phone and have a noticeable effect on performance - why would they include these wallpapers if that was the case?
I've had a few cases of apps not responding/force closing, even randomly the included music app.
Seems like a common issue but I also had problems with transferring pictures over to the nexus, and had to get around the problem by using Android Sync Manager.
I expected it but the app store is much better quality on iOS, though most apps I use are on both OS's.
Browsing is great on the nexus, the bigger screen helps loads and it's much faster in general than browsing was on my iPhone 4.

Overall though I do like the Nexus, loading like for like apps between the two phones the Nexus generally comes out on top.
Thing is though, this is comparing the Nexus to a phone that's a year and a half old and still seems much more polished. In comparison to the 4S which was my other option I do feel that the screen size was the biggest decider in choosing the Nexus. I'm yet to fully regret going for the Nexus instead, I just sure hope it grows on me.

24 month contracts scare me! i think 18 would be my max so i'm afraid 3 is out the window.

Think i'm going to punt for the t-mobile deal

Also, it appears they don't have any of the handsets with three! Had this message from them on twitter:
we do not have an exact delivery date for this handset, any orders placed will be priority when we receive stock , thanks

Not sure I can justify £35/month when I have been offered a Samsung S2 from my current provider(orange) for £20/month with 500mb data...

I bit the bulet and went with Orange (http://goo.gl/NTCWn) in the end so I will get it tommorow.

24 months (not too fussed about 24 months, I keep my phones a while anyway)
600 mins
unlimited texts
1gb data
BT wifi free too

£31/month + £90 for the phone

I'm happy.

i don't think its faulty mate. as i said it does it on my pc, have you posted on xda? seen others have had the issue

This seems to explain it. I tried again this morning same issue but it is only with that specific folder. I can copy stuff into Ringtones or Notifications no problem. So it is a bug and not a duff phone by the look of it. One thing I did notice is if you get it to hang, crash or whatever you must unplug the USB cable and replug before it will let you do anything else.

If you click on the Google help forum link it seems many have this issue. How do I enable USB debugging mode?
