***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Are there any good battery apps or tips to extend battery life? Im finding the battery life to be poor on my Nexus. I unplugged it at 1pm and im currently at 60%. Ive turned bluetooth, dync and dropped the screen to about 25% brightnesz and its still sucking batter life like no other phone ive had.

Thanks.

Use Green Power or Juice Defender. If your device is rooted try flashing a different ROM or Radio.

But regardless if you the screen is on a lot it will drink the juice. Also AMOLED consumes more power displaying white, so switch to a black theme if possible.

and so is the mali-400 gpu in the SGSII. underclocked.

But everyone was assuming a gpu advantage based on 384mhz vs the 304mhz in 4430.

It'll be even further behind Mali than previously assumed. ALl you have to do is read through this thread.

I'm aware of the GPU discussion - do you have a nexus? do you notice any weaknesses in the GPU?

Yeh it's definitely weaker than my ipad 2. You have a point?

I think you will find it will be discussed much further. Put your finger in your ears if you want. I'm looking forward to the anandtech article.

If it plays all the current games whats the problem? who cares what the clock speed is.

edit: I don't have a nexus, I have a SGSII fyi.

You tried Dungeon Defender on max settings? Definitely not fluid as sgx543mp2. I imagine it's better on the mali400mp4 as well.

Also tech enthusiasts care. I think you may be on the wrong website.

edit:

This reminds me of when HardOCP announced that Intel's Conroe wasn't anything to shout about because of logic like that. AMD's K8 they said was adequate.

Do you have a nexus? If you do then you should have done your research if you thought an SGX540 at 720p resolution would be up to snuff at playing demanding 3d games.

You hear me complaining? I simply stated something about the GPU in the Galaxy Nexus which is very interesting.

What is wrong with you?

And when did you hear me complaining? I was just asking questions on whether you thought the GPU was ok as is and then you told me to put my fingers in my ears.

When did I state you were complaining? You're the one stating I should have done my research... underclocking means nothing... as long as it play current games its ok etc etc.

All I did was inform people of the lower clocked GPU inside the Galaxy Nexus than initially assumed. The impact on performance will no doubt be evident in an analysis.

I never said under-clocking means nothing, did I now?

You stated a fact about about the Nexus, I stated a fact about the SGSII.

I'll leave it there - there was obviously some misunderstanding.

I initially didn't take it to mean that. However, once I had clarified in that everyone had assumed it was 384mhz up till now and hence this piece of information was valuable, your retort was

You tell me what that exchange means.

Surely people didnt buy this if they wanted good gpu performance? I dont play anything more demanding than angry birds. Gpu doesnt bother me

I try to make posts clearer, but large edits are usually shown.

Out of interest, what is the clock speed of the mali chip in the sgs2? Always assumed it was ~200mhz.

Same, who wants to play a 3D game on a small screen (well I suppose there will be people).
