***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Folks,

About battery again.

The box comes with a free OEM battery, which is a different make obviously.

After fully charge the phone indicates 100% and seems that it discharges less quickly than the stock one.

Any similar experience and what you reckon?

This is something which I can't find in manual.
Say I have opened the music player, when I am done, how do I know it has been turned off, there is no command to turn it off?

You don't need to turn it off.

But if you feel you really must, you have three options.

1) Drop down the notifications bar and if the music player is still in there press the x on the right hand side.

2) Bring up the task list (bottom right button from homescreen) and swipe it away.

3) Go to settings > apps > running. Select music player and then click stop. You can then click cached processes and end it there.

I wouldn't worry about that, it's kept in memory. I shall briefly explain..

Android loads apps into memory before they are run and are kept there until they are needed. It is much better for general speed and power usage to load it once and keep it there rather than repeatedly opening and closing it (therefore using the CPU instead of the memory, i.e more battery used).

Android also uses a garbage collector to close apps that are not in use when the Android system needs more resources/memory. So, let Android handle it's own memory management needs.

That being said, if you do need to kill an app for whatever reason (hopefully it doesn't involve anything I just said!) then follow the above posters instructions.

Does anyone else use the default mail app for Yahoo? I have had to stop using it because I get sign-in failed all the time now.

The password is correct as I have confirmed it in the Yahoo mail app, and via the website, and have put the correct password in the app again, but it fails at authentication.

I really am stumped as to what the problem is.

By the way, Samsung leaking info (not official) at MWC today about the S III. BGR reporting following specs:

Inside the Galaxy S III is said to be a quad-core Samsung Exynos CPU running at 1.5GHz. It will power a 4.8-inch 16×9 display that’s reportedly a Blu-ray display — whatever that means. A 2MP resides in the front bezel while an 8MP is embedded around back. BGR doesn’t state the target carrier(s) but the phone will rock a 4G LTE radio.

The case is reportedly made out of ceramic, which is a fun change of pace. Ceramic feels great to the touch, can be very durable and since it’s comprised of mostly baked mud, it’s better for the environment. Plus, with ceramic, Apple can’t claim Samsung copied any of its products.

It will ship with Android 4.0 installed sometime later this year, perhaps summer.

Early thoughts? Big enough improvement over the GNex to excite anyone?

I'm due an upgrade, and I've been pointed in the direction of this phone. To be honest it looks fantastic! Problem is Tmobile arent stocking it. Which is really annoying.

Does any know of any good deals elsewhere as I may have to leave them if I'm considering going with a Nexus.

I don't really make calls, So texting and Data allowance are my primary concerns. I currently pay £26 a month for my Blackberry, I'm guessing I wont find the Nexus at that price.

you can get it on Tmobile via Carphonewarehouse

Cheers lads. I have a carphonewarehouse right near to where I live, So will pop in I think. See if they can offer me the phone. I suppose I could buy the phone on tmobile contract and then transfer my old number or Sim.

That website looks good, But I'm wary of purchasing from sites like that :p I know I shouldnt be, I just like a shop I can walk into and shout if need be.

Oh okay, I'll take a closer look. As I did like the Cash back offers they had going

Well if you fancy going back in time to the days of the 12 Month Contract then take a look at what I went for...posted earlier in the thread...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus £100.00
