***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

I'm just a bit bored with iOS after having an iPhone 3G followed by a 4 for the last three years. iOS has been pretty much the same since it came out, only a few notable features being added. I really want to try out a top spec android phone this time. Hope the Galaxy Nexus is a worthy replacement for my iPhone 4.

does anyone else think im mad for swapping my S2 for this? had a big debate with my mate last night... due to the fact that i would only get around £300 for the S2 and this is being fixed around £550?

Well, look at it this way - the only advantages the Nexus has over the GS2 are ICS and a higher resolution screen. ICS will hit the GS2 sooner or later, and the GS2's screen isn't bad by any means. So it's a lot of money for a relatively small upgrade.

But.... the value of the GS2 will only continue to fall, and the GN will probably be a better investment long term...

Regardless, I'm getting a GN if only because I want something new to play with and I've never been totally happy with my GS2.

Who says im buying it on contract :p

Besides i was venting more than anything else.

Seriously? I hope you're the type that changes phone every 3 months if you say that. For the sake of waiting a few weeks, you'd be locked into a different phone for 2 years?

Yes, wait until the GN drops to it's natural price point of £400 - £450 if you want to change. (Unless your minted :p)

Both are similar spec plastic Samsung phones that'll be replaced within ~4 months at the high end, none of them should be considered long term investments.

No, unless you can't afford it.

You can do what I do and buy every single new phone and work your way through them via process of elimination. :)

Went in to an Orange Shop, the guy said it was not showing on the system but that I could upgrade to it on Orange through carphone warehouse.

Logic fail.

I preordered from gummobile.com. They are reliable and I previously purchased Evo 3D and Optimus 3D from them.

They are due on 17th November although the bummer is that they were due on the 7th before Samsung's announcement so instead of being available from Monday we have to wait until the following Thursday.

Signed up for VF's update.
With Orange not officially stocking it, i cant get a good deal out of them for the phone.
Plus, i can get 20% off my contract with VF because of work. :p

Hope they arnt in short supply...

its never been the 7th, they made that up.. Samsung/google have only ever said one date. the 17th

Several sites showed stock as November 7th - those dates may not have been official from Samsung but they were not made up either. They got those dates from the manufacturer or distributed and it was a great indication.

For example gummobile showed the Galaxy Note availability from October 31st - in the end they arrived on the 3rd November but they were clearly told by Samsung or whomever distributes the phones to expect them in that week.

So I trust their dates as being accurate.

How do you know this?!?!?

I would agree with this. Lots of sites clearly just made up a date and a price to start getting pre-orders.

no sorry fella, just a sales ploy, after all if you give a date and a competitor does not then i guess people will order from their.
