***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

It's not meant to compete with the 4S so it doesn't really matter.

If they want to sell it in any sort of numbers it needs to be sensibly priced. If I think i'm being ripped off i'll go for my next choice or just wait for the next iPhone. Other people will think the same way and sales will be lost. It's business sense.

I'd try ringing up again tomorrow, the £41 18 month contract is for new customers.

I was offered £38.50 on 18 months with 900 mins 3000 texts and 1GB data, more expensive tariff than what borich got as I wanted 1GB. It also depends on what previous contract you have - this correlates to a banding and what they can offer you, for example in my case I'm upgrading from a HTC Desire on a £25 month contract, this equates to band 4. Best deal I could get is £33.50 a month, 900 mins 3000 texts 1GB data, 24 months, £100 cash back. I plan on going ahead with this contract tomorrow morning, it equates to £29.46 a month. I can only presume borich has a better banding as he had a more expensive contract beforehand which gave him more flexibility perhaps?

I'll try again tomorrow. Hopefully i'll get through to somebody that doesn't think i'm a new customer! They offered me 600mins, 3000 texts and 1gb of data for the £41 pm. I told him I didn't need that many minutes and would be happy with 500mb of data but said he couldn't get it any lower.

I currently have an xperia x10 which has cost me £35pm for the last 18months so should hopefully be in a good banding.

This is coming out cheaper than the S2 came out (£500 SIM free, the S2 was £530 SIM free on release) and the S2 has sold more than the iPhone over the past 3 months or so (from what we're told, although this is hard to confirm. Myself, I've seen so many S2's I believe it though)

I think the S2 has actually been one of the best selling phones in a LONG time. Kinda goes against your theory, no?

I was under the impression that the S2 has sold very well, but it hasn't touched the iPhone. Interesting (but unlikely) possibility though, are there any links that can substantiate that from non-fanboy sites on either side? Probably not. :p

I bet the majority of people bought it on contract though, some of the online contract deals for it have been ridiculously cheap right from release. They don't seem quite so cheap when it comes to the Nexus.

Anyway, the Nexus isn't mean to rival the iPhone, and it certainly isn't going to. It's a brilliant but very niche device.

I went into the Orange store on Buchanan Street in Glasgow when I was leaving work tonight and they said the Samsung rep told them that they weren't getting the handset.

Hope the guy got that wrong because I get a 25% discount off of their tariffs through my work.

I'd rather not deal with P4U as they're a bunch of ***** from past experience.

Wasn't it something like 10 million SGS2s sold in Q2 (without US market) vs 18 million iPhones (all models with US market, obv not including iPhone 4S and Sprint)

I did a 2 year upgrade on O2 for 37pm 600 minutes unlimited texts which I assume to mean 3000 and 500MB data but I also have a 30 per cent discount so it comes to 26pm and a free nexus so I'm satisfied however if it doesn't come on Friday I'll be annoyed as that is why I went for it

iPhone has sold over double the number of all Galaxy S and S2 devices combined in 2010Q3-2011 period.

iphone numbers are easy to find.

The S2 started off pricey and only really took off when they started heavily discounting it.

I'm fairly sure the £399 price on o2 at release only lasted a short while (i.e. people were buying all their stock). Only recently has it really moved lower than the £399 price point. HTC Sensation was also around £499 on release.

No way! S2 sales since release were 10m in October. In that alone quarter (2011Q3 or financial Q4) the iphone sold 17m and that was a dip because of the late 4S.

edit: However, with all of Samsung's smartphones combined they sold 24m in that quarter. So they are currently the top smartphone manufacturer for Q3 2011.

^ The SGS2 was £399 from o2 when it first released.

Not on release day. This happened about 3 days after and only for about a week until O2 realised everyone was unlocking it and using it on other networks. Then they moved it up in line with others, which was £499 after a week or so.

Maybe I'd read a report that compared only markets they were both available in?

Tbh, 10 mil against 18 mil, especially considering it wasn't available in the US is pretty amazing anyway.

My friend received a phonecall from Phones4U yesterday saying that he should have his [contract] Nexus by Friday....

The latest rumour mill:

Only O2 confirms stock for Thursday

Online retailer Clove has confirmed that its SIM-free stock of the phone is delayed until 23 November, a date that came from Samsung and is "still subject to change."

Mobile operator Three said on Twitter earlier, "We're expecting stock on the 18th in retail but we can't 100 [per cent] confirm yet."

We can confirm that Orange and T-Mobile won't even be selling the high profile handset, directly that is. Vodafone said it hasn't announced a date for the Nexus but pointed out that the device is on its coming soon page.

To make things look even worse the giant that is Amazon has a release date of 2 December and Expansys has a date only a day earlier.

We contacted Phones 4U, which told us, "We will be stocking the phone but can't confirm when it will go on sale," and said that the launch date is "up in the air".

It was a similar story at The Carphone Warehouse, which also couldn't give us a date for when the Galaxy Nexus will go on sale.

Do we know if Phones4U and O2 will be selling sim-free (or PAYG) versions of the Nexus tomorrow?

I'm still holding out for more info from KingOfGadgets since they haven't announced a delay in shipping yet..
