**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I have a Bluetooth receiver for my hifi at home, a Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom and multiple pairs of Bluetooth headphones.

However our new car does not have any kind of Bluetooth integration - only an aux port. It is this kind of scenario, where the only option is a wired connection (without buying a receiver of some kind), which means the removal of the headphone port is particularly annoying.

I use a Taotronics Bluetooth adapter in my car aux port and it works well. Might be worth a go.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

Currently travelling back in the car from Christmas and adaptor is working so far without any swearing, hooray!

Received my Pixel 2 XL yesterday. Going straight back for a replacement. The blue shift on the panel is unbelievable.

Pretty horrendous on a phone that costs £699. My S7 Edge has virtually no blue shift at all. Overall I'm pleased with the phone... Just the screen jeez.

Really? It's looking less blue now I'm home on my PC monitor. Loading it up on my S7E gives more of an accurate picture of the blue colour.

Here's another taken by my better half because she was shocked at how blue the screen was last night.

It's noticeable when looking straight on at the phone - the bottom / top starts going blue if it's anything less than parallel with your vision.

def bluer than mine. perhaps post that picture up you're displaying there for us to load on the screen and see how it looks? but i am sure mine is less blue than that, though it is certainly blue at an angle, it's never been an issue. it's also more orange/red at night thanks to the night mode for the screen, also never an issue and in both situations i prefer having it even if colour is perfect as a result

The problem with trying to take photos of a blue tint.. the camera will attempt to correct the white balance.

Also..

ime Samsung phones oversaturate the colours, you won't get an accurate picture of the colour.

how often do you look at your phone at that angle? I genuinely do not get the rage. Yes it is not perfect but it is a flaw of the panel.

mine is fine, can't see much difference between it and my s7. Not that I ever need to look at my phone at that angle.

Can anyone recommend a screen protector? I got a big stand TPU one from the bay which seems fine expect for one issue which is when fitted with a case the corners just seem to be peeling off. I heard glass ones aren't that great either? I have the normal sized P2.

Also does the camera app have face detection like I've seen on the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy? Just doesn't seem to expose or show face detection.

Lastly any recommendations for an app that can shoot video in 25p or 50p to match my RX100 camera footage? The 60p flicker is awful with lighting and 30fps is a tad juddery.

Thanks.

Do you have the XL? the smaller P2 is fine.

yeah got the XL :) I can see the difference between s7 and XL but I never really look at my phone at those angles so it doesn't bother me.

well impressed with the phone tho, love it to bits. Battery life is great too.

If I was looking at the screen anything other than bang on straight the top and bottom started to tint blue.

Also I use my phone when it's on a table and it was extremely noticeable.

I personally don't get all the defense about the issue. I'm using a 2 year old Samsung and the panel has absolutely no blue shift at all.

Just had a look at my SOT whilst sitting waiting for weather offshore. It's currently at 4hrs and 41mins with 50% battery remaining. This is on the WiFi though but still impressive.
My N5X would have been chomping through its second charge by now.

Been happy with the battery on my P2 also albeit only had a day or so. The smaller size did worry me but seems to be doing well. I am liking the size over the XL and glad it has the same internals in a smaller package.

I personally don't understand you would buy this phone, with this known 'issue' and then not be happy about it?

I want a stock android experience and also the camera. Due to this I was prepared for some blue shift but the screen on my device was terrible.

It appears to be a complete lottery whether you get a usable screen or not - see this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixe..._2_xl_blueshifted_screens_tied_to_preoctober/

Most of the minor screens etc I would consider to be fine to use - mine was (in my opinion) on the major scale. The QC is terrible for a flagship device and all the fanboys defending it doesn't change that fact.

I just think if you're paying that much for a device, you shouldn't have to make excuses for poor quality, you're paying for quality and not getting it.

to be fair, everyone is saying the blue tint is fine and will look different in person than in a picture. i agree that to be the case, in person it's completely fine, however there is a small chance one out of all us users on here has blue tint that's more visible. i suggest the user replace, and if the blue tint is the same then he can decide if he can live with it or wants something without it.

atm none of us know if his is more blue than ours.
