**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Yesterday I got a couple of Peel cases. Quite like them, very thin to the point you almost wouldn't know they are there. Had to pay £15 to Royal Mail though, is that normal if you ordered them?

(Video in the usual place if you want to see)

Swiping up to unlock my Pixel does not work reliably. Sometimes like just now it does not work and I have to do it 3 or 4 times and swipe right from the bottom of the screen all the way to the top just to unlock it. It's annoying and very strange - anyone know if any possible fixes for this? It's a pixel 2 xl.

Why is it just not consistent?

The update isn't showing on mine...

Ordered an xlevel case, £3.50 will post pics when it arrives from china.

Ah. Yes!

I hear that the Pixel 3S will have patented Google technology to solve those kind of problems... What do we all think?

I'm personally not regretting going for the normal over the XL for what it's worth, although I think Mrs whiskycycle wants one now her 6P is getting some battle damage.

I am also having quite a bit of bother with my finger print scanner on my P2.
At least a few times a day there has been a not recognised warning on the screen.
I did read that many others began experiencing this issue after 8.1 update which would tie in with my issue.

Mine was fine after I cleaned with with isopropyl alcohol, but this morning again its been appalling and I've had to clean + re-add my prints again. Funnily enough this time it was unlocking my phone fine, but it was third party apps that wouldn't recognise.

This issue is spoiling this phone for me as I just want to throw it off a wall. I guess I'm probably going to end up sending it back, I've just been putting it off as it's not exactly convenient as my spare phone is nearly 5 years old and isn't exactly great nowadays.

I gave mine a quick wipe with my t-shirt when it was playing up at the gym and it has been fine since.
Fair enough if it was just dirty but in the two years I've owned my 5X, I have never had to wipe it down once.

I don't really want to RMA it just now. I'll maybe hang fire for a few updates and see if it resolves the issue then I'll maybe try consider an RMA.

RMA it. I've had mine nearly 2 months and never had an issue with the fingerprint scanner.

Yeah usually a quick wipe with the T-shirt will make it better for a while.

As with michty, I don't really want to RMA at this stage. I didn't get it from google so it'll be a complete ball-ache, and at this time, I can't be sure whether the problem is with the software on the phone (possible, but fairly unlikely?) or whether I just have extremely oily skin - my skin is very weird to be fair, but the fact is, I've had absolutely zero problems with my iPad Pro fingerprint reader.
