**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I'm in two minds about the camera. As a hobbyist photographer obviously there's part of me that really appreciates a stonking camera on my phone which I have on me 24/7. On the other hand I haven't actually taken that many shots with my 2XL this last year. If I know I'm venturing out anywhere I'll generally bring my DSLR with me anyway.
So although the camera on the Pixel is great, I wonder if I'd miss it if I went 6T. I don't do selfies so the front facing cameras on the 3/3XL carry no weight for me for all I would get out of them.

It was the same with me when I had a Pixel 2. Any noteworthy event or outing I'd have my proper camera with me which meant my phone camera was just for occasional snaps and nothing serious. If it was my main and only camera then it would be a different story.

I've noticed recently that whilst at home that the wireless connection on my Pixel 2 keeps dropping out. Anyone else seeing similar?

I'm not sure if it's always been there or appeared after any update(s). Anything worth checking on the phone itself?

I had the same thing yesterday. It stayed connected to my 5GHz but I had no internet. I would turn off wifi and turn it back on to fix but it would do it again an hour or so later. Also my phone was not showing up on my router under devices.
I checked the settings in advanced for my connection on the phone and I had google's DNS in there somehow and when I tried to edit or delete it 8.8.8.8 was greyed out underneath.
I had those settings ages ago when I had a static IP for my phone but had deleted them all and gone back to DHCP. It appeared as if the setting had been restored or something like that.
I tapped on FORGET network and connected again, put password back in and all has been fine. Phone is showing on router etc and no drops.
Very weird.

Whereas I am someone who is not a hobbyist photographer but who likes taking pictures as a bit of fun (and also for the usual reasons) and its a strong selling point having a camera that can take awesome pictures with very little effort. This is one thing I am totally sold on with the pixel phones in all honesty.

So this device defenatly is not rapid charging even though it says it is on the screen of the pixel 2xl.

It is charging quite slow. Which is kind of annoying when you have to use the USBC as the headphone jack for the moment.

This prompted me to look online. It seems that something is broken in the release of android pie 9 effecting Google pixel , 2 XL models to not charge at all? Or not fast charge ?

At the moment I'm not even fast charging so I'm glad for the moment I have not updated to pie. Unless someone can tell me it's fixed.

I'm Currently running 8.1.0

IIRC the rapid charging only works if the phone is above a certain temperature...

Having had the Pixel 2 normal for nearly a year. Happy to stick with it for another year. Good to see some features coming to this device from the 3.

Look forward to the camera APK report from above.

Happy with size of phone and it just works for all I need it for. Photos still amaze me and taken more on this than my DSLR and POS cameras.

What new stuff is filtering down to the pxl2

Another new problem, wondering if anyone has seen? Now and again (as in maybe a few times a week), double tapping on the screen will result in a flickering, banded display - almost as though there is a loose connection - although I doubt there is seeing as switching the screen off and back on fixes it.

I have to wonder just how many more issues I can find with this phone? Pretty sure this is going to be my last google phone given how they also seem to have screwed up with the Pixel 3 as well!

I used to get a flash awhen I locked the phone and unlocked the phone sometimes. Reboot would fix it.
I had that issue within 2 days of getting mine back in April. I managed to get phone swapped straight away.

Having a weird issue with right side of home button. Not sure if it's caused by an app I have, but likewise the only fix seems to be a reboot.

I love my Pixel 2 most of the time, but it's starting to feel like a strained relationship.

Music played via Bluetooth has a tendency to skip often, and my Sony headphones will not automatically reconnect to the phone via Bluetooth when in range, but they do when I pair them to my iPhone 6S.
