Just ordered my XL 2 with 25GB of data from EE for 50 quid per month - 4 more than what I'm currently paying for 2.5x the amount of data.

Basically £16 a month for your calling plan. I'm paying £19 for 12gb but that inc spotify which was costing me a tenner before.

Sounds like he's already got a discount compared to the EE website though.
Not a terrible deal if you don't want to pay upfront. I'll stick to sim free handsets and just paying for a SIM card though, it's easier to nab a great SIM only deal than a great contract.

If so, does that really matter much? I think that design on many Google products announced last week has improved immensely from their early hardware days (remember those?).

Yeah it's a real pain, so much so I'm considering going back to Samsung (which I hate the thought of) but I have an Amazon music unlimited subscription and it worked seamlessly with by in car Bluetooth until the Oreo update. If I knew the Pixel 2 was going to work I'd hold out for it but there's no knowing yet. Likewise if Google would just finally pull the finger out and admit there is a problem and fix it! On the live chat they weren't interested.

Same design as the note 8 screen protectors that they make.
I was looking forward to the Pixel 2 so I could upgrade my N5x but don't think I'll bother. There isn't anything in it that has got me excited enough to part with that sort of money.
So far, I've decided to order a new battery for my N5X to replace the original.
I may revisit the pixel 2 if the price drops a little.

Well I've cancelled my order after having a play with the xl 2. Just wasn't a fan of the black border. (Keeping my s8+) till the new snapdragon phones come out now.
Where did you see the phone?
