**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

did google say why the translation is only available on pixel 2? is this something that they are artificially limiting, or something that will come to other devices in 6 months or so?

Not answered in Google presentation. Available on Pixel 2s in US first and then "coming soon to UK", etc so doubt if you will see it anytime soon on other phones. Is that artificial limiting? Who knows at this point? Might be that "supply constrained" is the real reason but not sure.

Anyone ordered or thinking about ordering the normal Pixel 2? I'm still undecided about dropping 799 on the XL and going for maybe the normal one or just lower my expectations and get a Nokia 8 or iP8. The V30 dropping in value would bring that into contention.

If it's a purely software implementation then it should be available on Pixel 2 first, Pixel next and all devices eventually. It doesn't make sense to have a software implementation that is tied to one single model handset in the Android ecosystem, what would be the point of that?

It's far too dated to be buying at that price, in my opinion.

The dated design is annoying but trying to put a positive spin on the size to myself as easier to put in pocket and handle but yes the price makes it a bit silly to then get buyer's remorse.

It's a pity CPW aren't doing the same half price deal with the Pixel that they are doing with the Pixel XL. Given that Google can't even source Pixel's for RMA tells me that they're now like hen's teeth in terms of buying brand new.

Ordered the Pixel 2. Bezels are Bezels. I really don't see the massive fuss around it. Besides, the size of the Pixel 2 is just right.

I'm tempted by the 2 XL despite the current phone prices being horrifically expensive. Has there been any comments on the build quality and how the camera compares to the iPhone 8 and Galaxy S8?

The price however isn't.

Well no, but decent phones cost money these days. Nexus is dead, it died when the pricing for the 5X / 6 was released. If you want a budget phone, look at budget phones but moaning that a high end phone isn't priced at £200 is daft. Just because Google used to sell Nexus phones, doesn't mean they need to remain in the price bracket. I'm flicking between the Pixel 2 and the iPhone8. The iPhone is a better phone.. but I've been using Android since 1.5 and am quite fond of it.

Yep if I were buying now, the iPhone 8+ and Pixel 2 XL would be my two choices.

The iPhone I think probably has the better hardware overall. That dual lens camera and the wireless charging seperate it from the similarly pirced pixel. Not to mention, the CPU is much faster (on benchmarks, at least). However, I am not all that keen on iOS if I'm honest (despite using it on an iPad at home so I like to think I am unbiased). I think on a phone, Android is far superior in many ways, and that kind of makes up for some of the differences. TBH, I'd be tempted to go Pixel purely because they won't be popular and quite a rare sight, not to mention its the best offering of Android out there by some distance.

I don't really care about it being popular or not, I just want a decent camera on a phone without spending silly money (also stock OS, NFC and updates). I'm not really interested in the XL or + versions.. phones need to stop growing!

I also have an iPad and a couple of Apple computers - but I'm still not really sure I'd want IOS as my phone OS. Gonna sit back and await proper reviews for the Pixel 2 I think before making any choices, but there really isn't anything else (I liked the look of the MI A1 because AndroidOne, but then BAM, no NFC).

Hi Guys,

I received just one. Importantly it has a Transaction number which I plan to use in mid November to get a more accurate read about home deliver estimated on 20 November. You might want to call them if you think your have a duplicate confirm. The number I found is 0870-0870168. Hope that helps.
