Seems that way. They have put limited windows on other play store promo balances so not totally unprecedented

The CPW deal is more appealing, IMO.

Edit: has anyone bought the deal from CPW? I'm interested whether the free stand gets delivered with the phone or is a redeem code thing?

Not sure but if the prices or deal is similar I would take the Google one. Always better warranty options

CPW warranty is direct with Google.

i don't believe that is correct. Unless you purchase direct with google you will need to send your phone to Google (either direct or via CPW) first.

With Google purchases they send you a new phone out as soon as you report an issue. You then have 10 days to post yours back, which is a pretty amazing warranty system from all accounts.

I got a brand new replacement for my RMA and it was dispatched when they received the original handset which I had to post to Germany.

When was this? Google informed me the last time I went to send my Pixel 2 XL in that they would no longer be replacing with new units, and that I'd receive a refurbished one, since I didn't get the device from them. One of the reasons I went back to iPhone

Ah, then it might have changed. This was a Pixel 1

Yeah things have changed. You get refurb and you have to post first. Having that extra warranty and comfort of getting a new one from them first is worth it if prices are similar to other deals

Guys, is there anyway to make the Inbox App default over GMAIL? I don't really know why Google are still peddling the GMAIL app in the phones when Inbox is now pretty much defacto

Unless Google have done a massive U-turn I think you'll find Inbox is being decommissioned and is due to be an ex-app by March 2019. I wouldn't get too attached!

I've never been so conflicted by what is a relatively minor decision to make, I have both the Mate 20 Pro and my PIxel 3XL arrived this morning. I managed to get 25% off on the Pixel 3XL, having had the 2XL i know how good these can be.

Things I have noticed so far with my testing:

- Screen slightly better on the Pixel 3 XL (Mate 20 pro is more yellowish to the eye), both substantially better then the Pixel 2XL I had.
- Notch doesn't both me on both, Mate 20 pro is smaller but the Pixel 3XL is better with regards to how the notification icons are formatted into the notch area
- Hardware wise the Mate 20 pro has this beat easily, nice to hold and a better looking device, battery etc is great on my week long use
- Mate 20 Pro is generally faster.
- The Mate 20 pro finger print and facial recognition fail too much, at first I didn't mind but now it's getting very irritating when you just need to quickly access the phone. I've cleaned and re-added finger prints a few times now in just a week which doesn't bode well. Maybe it's still too early for this tech to be mainstream.

The cameras is where it gets interesting, pixel 3 is quicker to take snaps and they are nearly always perfect. With the Mate 20 pro if someone moves the picture blurs easily plus it's always telling me to hold if still for a few seconds to "sharpen the image". The colours are also a little saturated on the Mate 20 pro pics.

Saying that, The Mate 20 pro can take some incredibly sharp picture and has a great zoom lens, night mode is great on both. It's really difficult to call as they both have their strengths in the camera department.

Where the pixel wins as always is on the software front, I'm not worried Huawei will lose interest in the Mate 20 pro come feb as they release new phones and I won't be getting any more updates.

Problem is easy to solve... Mate 20 pro hardware with google pixel images and services ;o)

I think I've got a spare code for the Google Store if anyone needs it. I was toying with buying a Pixel Stand but it's probably a waste of money for me, may as well wait for the Pixel Home Hub to go on offer again.

Which one feels better in your hand, which one is nicer to use for you personally.
Which one if laying side by side on the table would you pick up and take out with you when you have 5 seconds to choose and can only take one :D
Use one for a day at a time and see how times you find yourself missing something or wishing you had the other phone.
When I sent my Oneplus 5 back last year it was only because the camera was pants compared to the then £629 Pixel 2XL but I loved everything else about the OP5, there will usually be a deciding factor that will make the right phone (for you) click and stand out for you. :)
