**** The Official Google Pixel 4 Thread ****

Just picked up a Pixel 4 XL

Liking it so far, no issues with battery life for my usage

Huge discount thanks to all the poor reviews, so a win for me tbh!

I just bought a Pixel 3a XL. Liking so far. Stock Android is great and the camera is awesome. Paid sub £300 for new unit. Could have went Chinese and got a phone with 3 times the spec but wanted the camera and rapid software updates. Only issue I had was forcing the software updates while on wifi. Can't think why I would ever need to spend more on a phone.

Anyone jumped on the 11 beta?

I’ve been on it. Starling as usual doesn’t work but the other banking apps I use are okay. Google pay didn’t work either but that was fixed in another beta update that was released yesterday. Apart from some of the apps not working the beta itself has been okay for me, no crashing or anything and the revamped notification system is pretty good.

Don't suppose you know whether the Santander app works?

Looking to upgrade and may make the move over to Google

Currently on a Galaxy S8+. So size wise I'd go XL just so it's about the same size as I'm used to.

Would it be silly to pick one up now with what sounds like a new version somewhere on the horizon?

Just glancing above it sounds like theres delays etc on all that.

It would be a contract

Quite a big pixel fan here but I would probably not recommend getting one right now on 2 year contract unless it was a particularly good deal.

You could either wait and see what the 5 brings or if you need something now the s20 would be better value all round. Tech moves so quick and in theory we are due the 5 in four months time. But as others have mentioned that may well be delayed

It does as does Natwest if anyone is interested. Curve is also fine.
Yep, Santander working here on 11 too, as is Barclaycard, and Gpay was fixed as of the 1.5 patch.

Be aware anyone thinking of joining the beta at the moment. There is a bug that might not let you leave if you want to go back to 10. Seems to be affecting the majority of users.

Does NatWest app work with face unlock on the pixel 4?

Nope. I’ve been complaining about it to them for months but they haven’t budged. Same thing applies with Santander but they replied stating that they are under no obligation to support it even though the old fingerprint API is on the way out. The only banking app that I use which supports it is Curve.

I haven't found a single app that supports face unlock. I have 3 banking apps (Yorkshire bank and 2 credit card apps) and none of them support face unlock. It's quite annoying.

That's typical android though in some ways. It was always going to be the case unfortunately. Very annoying!

Regarding the pixel 4a, I wonder how it will be priced against the oneplus Z.

The whole unlock thing sounds like it needs uniforming across Android for us a the customer to get a better experience. Standard protocols and API that can be supported across the board for all versions
