**** The Official Google Pixel 4 Thread ****

Two different operating systems, IOS only works with their proprietary hardware so has a much better optimisation as a result, compared to Android which has to work on a huge number of devices.

Well, hoping all the departures at Google don't meant a lot, Pixel 5 looks like it could be an interesting device.

Yes and no as the pixel should be optimised in a similar fashion to apple.

But... it's not the iPhone that gets optimised, it's iOS... so it's not the Pixel that should be optimised, it's Andoird... and as said, that's hard to do as it needs to be so much more versatile.

Never really expect Android to be as well optimised but Google have still been very stubborn with their RAM and battery capacities, which has been frustrating many.

At least you can explain the lack of SD slot and relatively low storage capacities. They are still predominantly a software company so would want to sell you their cloud services at any opportunity, Pixel 4 series was the one to have unlimited original storage removed compared to the 3 previous generations.

Think frustrating part is that a lot of people expect it to be the jewel of Android phones which it unfortunately hasn't been, despite potential resources that Google could have put into it. Majority of criticisms have also all been very obvious too, I would just love for example, to have been in the meeting where they decided that 2800mAh capacity battery should power the new Pixel 4 with all the new tech they packed into it, when there's been plenty of coverage to say that Pixel 3 was struggling as it is.

It's a phone I've wanted to like really badly myself but always felt like the new models to be lacking in some way. Hoping they may finally learn some lessons with success of 3a and hopefully 4a that can carry over to Pixel 5.

See it’s saying stuff like “Stubborn with their RAM” and similar things that is why I brought up my point before.

Why exactly are they (Google) stubborn?

It does seem to be the Android thing to continually demand more and more, or at least have exceedingly high expectations from the phones and be annoyed if the phone doesn’t meet the “desired” grade, where everyone who uses/gets an iPhone generally just accepts what’s inside, uses it and that’s that.

Like 6GB RAM inside these phones seems more than enough for me. Likewise with the battery-especially as it’s more than my current XS, but then it’s been universally panned...

I dunno, maybe I’m just a bit naive because I’m (currently) in that Apple/iOS ecosystem that these things aren’t ever an issue, so I apologise if I’m going over old issues.

I'm sure that face unlock will be there I just got that Google removes the old fingerprint API in Android 11 to force the app developers to support it.

Anyone seen an issue where the screen flickers a bit when outside and screen is in direct sun? It's apparent to me when something on the screen is mostly white like a webpage.

Where’s Pixel 4a? Here’s an update: AGAIN, it seems Google has delayed Pixel 4a

Announcing in July and releasing October?
They might as well rename it to Pixel 5a or something.

Definitely see the Pixel 5 slipping into next year at this rate.

I was really hoping this would have been out before the end of July as it will be replacing my wife's Samsung s8 with its cracked screen.

Google! Release it now, the market does want it!
