**** The Official Google Pixel 4 Thread ****

Has the size of the 4a been announced? Looking to change from my S9 as I feel it's too big and wanted something smaller.

Was gonna go with the new SE but that battery life is ruddy awful.

Very tempted by the 4 and 4 XL noe it's a big price drop.

Anyone find the best deal for a low data say 1gb to 2gb but unlimited everything else? Don't need much data as use work sim.

Is it dual SIM?

I'd have money on Google releasing the 4a at £350 given the 4 is £499 now.

Damn, I bought a mint used Pixel 4 for £429 2 weeks ago. They do have a 30 day no quibble return so I'll be looking to use that.

Edit:
Actually gone for the 3a got £279 + £50 prepaid mastercard from Carphone Warehouse. Should doe well as a basic phone.

I considered the 4 and 4 XL at the lower prices but think I'll hold off for a 4a. Hopefully they release it soon and the battery life is good, my 2XL is getting tired now.

So Mark Levoy, the chap running the Pixel camera division has recently left Google, interesting to see how this will affect the camera quality going forward as a lot of competition has been catching up to them in recent years.

I expect the team will have been in place for quite some time now so don’t expect his departure to be too much of an issue.

Well seems it's a bit of a bigger theme here, the general manager who's been with Google phones since day one also left.

I think this article sums up the frustrations of the Pixel line really well. Google definitely do have the resources and mistakes such as low battery capacity and RAM are so obvious. Without knowing the internal politics, I guess some decisions on the Pixel 4 line were just a breaking point for some people and they felt same frustrations.

Do we really think the camera is so great because of the boss, or is it because of the engineers?

This is the thing-while I don’t doubt that the boss had a great say in things, but if the engineers that have worked on the Pixels up to this point are still there working on the 5/6 (going to guess that there’d already be discussions about the 6), then it’s business as usual surely?

I work in a big company movement in high places is very common. I would not read to much into that.

I struggle with the whole RAM/Battery argument that seems to cause so many issues with everyone. Is it because I’ve been so conditioned with what iOS does with their phones/software that it makes it a non event.

My current XS has 4GB RAM and a smaller battery than the Pixel 4 yet it’s been universally panned....
