***THE OFFICIAL GTX480/470 END USER REVIEW THREAD***

Oh the irony...

He was talking exclusively about Just Cause 2. What are you talking (ranting) about?
You do realise he's saying that a single HD5870 framerate=xfire 5870 framerate (130%)-30% right?
Like in the way of 119fps (130%)-30%=84.6fps=Single 5870 frame rate=2:1 to the GTX card's 39.02fps.
I don't doubt 5870 is faster than the GTXs in some games at curtain settings, but 2:1 to a GTX card? I don't think those said % for the crossfire scaling is right.

My point is it is inaccurate (and pointless) to try to 'guess' a single 5870's performance from a xfire 5870 reasults. Run the test on the same settings that actually uses a single 5870 to get some real figures, then we will get some meaningful results for comparison for comparing a 5870 with the GTXs.

I would just ignore the trolls coming in to the thread with blank statements regarding their highly dubious performance in games, I mean they post up no screens or proof to back themselves up, I highly doubt he even has an ATI card let alone Xfire 5870's.;)

Rapido said crossfire scaling in Just Cause 2 isn't very good. Whether it is or not I have no idea. You called him out by posting results from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and that somehow proved crossfire isn't scaling at 30% in Just Cause 2

so from what Ive read so far it would seem that the whole noise issue is that under normal operating circumstances the gtx480 is no louder than cards that have gone before it, its only when you really push them does the fan get noticeable.

I'm 100% certain he does not own 5870 xfire, in the recent past he has been slating ATI left and right, if he cares to prove me wrong, all good, until then take what he says with a dumper full of salt.

ok I might have read it in the wrong context, but point is still same as before...it is wrong to try to estimate the performance of single 5870 by using xfire 5870 results.

My OC result:

Core: 785
Memory: 2000
Shader: 1550

It seems fine, completed furmark, vantage extreme, 3hrs of BC2.. I'm not going to try any higher as i really don't want to brick the card.
I used that EVGA precision someone posted a link to a couple of pages forward, if that helps others.

Took Vantage Extreme from X93** to X105**
Sorry, im not home i dont have ss/remember the full scores.

Not sure how this compares.
This is with my 470 & system in sig.

Nice score, 5870 below @ 1000 core/1240 mem

My 5850 @850/1200 sit's right in between the two of you..... on an old IP35 chipset with a Q6600 :)
