Excuse the messiness of this post guys, just thought I'd post a few quick benches for you to have a gander at.

Heaven benchmark, default settings, 1900 x 1200

Furmark - 1900 x 1200, 32xAA, ran 7 minutes, auto fan speed, temps peaked at 90c :o

Note, the fan only ramped to 68% when temps peaked at 90c (top right of pic), I thought it would have been more than that? Surprisingly though it's a lot quieter than my 280's fan when running at the same rpm and no louder than my case fans.

Furmark - 1900 x 1200, 32xAA, ran 8 minutes, fan manually set to 100%, temps peaked at 67c

Definitely too loud for my (or anyones) liking when set to 100%, still nice to see temps never peak above 67c though. Personally I think 75% will be the sweet spot for keeping noise and temps well within check.

3D MARK VANTAGE - 21328

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=2098968

5870 in the same system scored 18547

GTA 4 - 1900 X 1200, all settings maxed.

Assassins Creed 2 - 1900 X 1200, 4x AA, all settings maxed, vsync enabled, benched for 5 minutes whilst free running/causing mayhem around the city.

2010-04-16 23:11:36 - AssassinsCreedIIGame
Frames: 17887 - Time: 300787ms - Avg: 59.467 - Min: 52 - Max: 60

^^ Other than the framerate dropping to 52 for a brief second the card held a constant 60fps. Well impressed.

Assassins Creed 2 at same settings as above but with vsync disabled. Seems the framerate is locked at 60.

2010-04-16 23:36:24 - AssassinsCreedIIGame

BAD COMPANY 2 - DX 9, Africa Harbor, 10 V's 10, 7 minutes played - 1900 x 1200, all maxed except bloom and HSAO.

BAD COMPANY 2 -DX 10, Nelson Bay, 10 V's 10, 14 minutes played - 1900 x 1200, 8xAA, all maxed except bloom and HSAO.

2010-04-17 01:56:03 - BFBC2Game
Frames: 95226 - Time: 846451ms - Avg: 112.500 - Min: 48 - Max: 177

Note some tests state my cpu is running at 4GHz, or in gta's case, 2.66GHz, I think that's because they're not reading the 21 multi as I have turbo boost turned on, cpu is actually running at 4.2GHz.

I'll post some more + clocking results when I've finished having a play. :D

this is with a 5850 @ 850/1200 and a Phenom II x4 @ 3.6 and 4gb of ddr2 memory.

It's not the same test mate, he's got physx and a higher res

Oh i doubted the slight difference in res would make much more than 1-2fps difference and i didnt see that he had physx on. but then again since it a poor console port i doubt the physx is implemented much anyways.

For reference I get about 52 fps in that demo same settings and 1920x1200, it's cuda not physx and doesnt work with my setup (so the 9600GT isnt used for cuda I guess if it was physx then the 9600GT would be used in just cause 2)

so very close to a 5870 then given the small % performance increase over my 5850 due to the extra shaders

Different res mate, you might think that 1080p is approximately equal to 1200p but 1200p is ~11% bigger

ok then, I dont suppose you would like to rebench at the same settings as me when you get the time would you? And i havent seen but im guessing that your using a 480?

I think you guys should use 1680 rez as well, as it's a fairy popular rez and it would make comparisons between setups a lot easier, it's not as if us with 1680 max rez monitors can bench any higher rez, you guys with 1920 monitors can come down to us though.

I don't mind re running some tests at 1680x1050, but can we at least crank the settings up, after all I didn't spend the best part of a half a grand on a video card to run with no AA and only 4xAF etc.

16xAF and 4xAA should be the minimum prerequisite for all these tests.
