***THE OFFICIAL GTX480/470 END USER REVIEW THREAD***

hi
i own a gtx 480 and a still got my old gtx 280 i want to know if i put on the same system one gtx 480 and a gtx 280 for phyx i will boost my performance.

sorry i thought u wanna get gtx 480 .,as other guys said dont bother.,ur gtx 480 is enough for physix.

I wouldn't bother doing that, you'd be better off putting the 50 quid towards a new higher output psu tbh.

Like I said though there's only a handfull of games that take full advantage of PhysX at the moment.

hi guys

as i said b4 sold my gtx 295 and got gtx480 and wow,wow,wow this card is monster.,its much faster than my 295 by all mean,.games run at 1920x1200 with 80 to 130 fps.,and picture quality is fab and so ******** clear.,and all the stories about heat and noise is bul****.,card overclock 2 830 with no voltage change.,idle 37 max 58 and that on stock cooler ,i kept the fan at 68% and noise is normal,.i have two fan on the side case wich is help.,now actully the temp is 34.,i couldnt be happier,.i think gtx 480 works fin with se2 board and if u have ur cpu at 4.0 u dont have any problem playing games at hi res.
i wish i could have the secound card for sli but i dont see the use of it as all the game runs so smooth.,
as u can see on the pic i had to cut my case and put those fan,and i have a blue dual fan under the graphic card wich help the temps.

Im no expert but when you have a Enermax psu i would imagine you will be fine,the wattage and amps look fine

Edit: Just realised you have 36A and the recommend is 38A

Yeah I suppose they have to play it safe when giving out power requirements, as long as you're not running an extravagant system you will be fine.

As said Enermax make great PSU's even the older ones still hold up today, buy a 470 in confidence.

No I'm planing to use this for Adobe MPE in PP.

Its stop gap PC Upgrade as my PC is slow! PC is HP Proliant 115 G5 AMD quad core 2.1ghz, 8GB DDR2, 4 HDDs and 1 Bluray burner.

Think I'm using about 220/240watts on load

Finally! got my GTX 480, I haven't done much fiddling but heres a Benchmark from FC2

PC specs;
Core i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz
6GB 1600MHz RAM
Zotac GTX 480
ASUS P6X58D Premium Motherboard
Creative X-Fi Titanium Pro Soundcard
Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.

GFX Settings for FarCry2;
ALL settings on Max
No VSync
X4AA
1920x1200 Resolution (Note: duel monitor enabled, I watching youtube ;))

Average Framerate = 91.09

Edit: extra benchmark for FC2, This bench was done on an intensive action scene. (Benchmark name : Playback (Action Scene))

your CPU is crying for an overclock. I'll run my 260 setup tomorrow morning when I'm sober to see how I compare to you :)

I know it is! I am planning to do it tomorrow as its a bit late to do some tweakage. I'm dieing to pus this system as I recently done a CS:Source benchmark, and with everything on max at this res (X16AA/AS aswell) my average FPS was 380! varying from 280FPS on some scenes, all the way upto 730FPS on other scenes!
Unfortunately I noticed that even if I lowered the graphics settings, I still had the same FPS results.. the cause was my RAM bottleknecking the power, ohwell! :)

BTW, another benchmark.

This is Street Fighter 4, everything on max with C16xQAA AND Ambient Occulsion (this feature is a recent addition in an NVidia driver update)
