I used to do Kashmir in DADGAD, pretty sure that's what Page wrote it in.

It is, the guitar us almost the same tuning, only issue is the descending strum. i’ll try running propper tuning.

It’s the tone that pops out of the speaker that surprised me. Also managed to get a great motohwad tone too, so it’s slowly breaking in.

My James Tyler Variax guitars have a setting for it along with a dozen other tunings at the turn of a knob :)

My ibanez 7 is sold and being picked up tomorrow (I hope).

Not going to miss it- probably played it for a total of a dozen hours in 15 years.

So there’s now going to be a hole..

(Shall we take bets how long before that’s plugged with a Martin.. :))

Long scale length plus A-DADGAD tuning is pretty spectacular. Once the Mrs has finished work I’ll plug in :)

No. More. Guitars.
I nearly bought two today. A B-stock Harley Benton GS Mini clone is making its way to me for my birthday. But I reckon it's not going to scratch the small guitar itch I have/need for the care home work, where not poking people in the eye is an advantage. So I accidentally (honest, I was going into the indoor market to buy curtain rail hooks!) discovered Macclesfield has a Takamine specialist in the indoor market. And he has several small guitars that fit the bill. And about 200 guitars at home.

I didn't think of myself as a Takamine man, despite having an EF 325SRC (all I know is it's a proper Japanese one) for 30 odd years. But talking to Eugene (careful with the axe!) who must be every day of 70 years old and probably more, made me feel at home. Shame his guitars weren't exactly a bargain, but I'm going to test my resolve on Tuesday and spend some time there. It's the day before my birthday though. There could be a bad accident... especially if I pick up some of his collector's items and discover I don't want a small, light, practical guitar, I want 2K's worth of vintage guitar.

Want. Need. Can afford. Just words!

What's next on the guitar front?
Well I've been musing over doing a scraps (tele)caster - I have leftover wood and want to get a older sound for some bluesy style stuff:

He's using Slider pickups which I've not heard of before but they sound spot on.

So this will be my 4th guitar - second build and a true scraps caster, I'm thinking:
* neck - remainders of the 7 piece laminate from my previous build
* headstock - a smaller block of the 7 piece laminate, so this won't be a true tele headstock but a very soft back raked headstock and scarfe joint
* centre body - the middle block of the alder 3 block blank. this would be where the neck and bridge would connect to
* body wings - I don't have the alder but instead I do have the remnants of the maple used on the neck laminate. Reason for not using for a maple neck is the grain is all wrong and that end got ran over by a forklift (still has the tire print). It also has some humidity bending due to the grain. I could cut and reverse but I don't think it would be predictable enough and may end up being scrapped neck.
* fretboard - I have some bubinga still left (African rosewood).
* I also have some more wood - plank off cut of the purple heart etc
* ashtray design - although I may go for a compensated bridge or even a 6 saddle. Not sure yet.

I'm possibly leaning to no pickguard back mount pickups but in the end it's a tele.. so it will be a tele template... also I may see if I can find a UK retailer for the Slide pickups, they seem pretty much old school sounding.

I might be getting a bit tinfoil hat-ish here! but does this all look genuine?...Kemper Head black or white for £935, white refurb for £929?? (save £6 for a refurb!), black refurb £842 (although out of stock). so £935 new is almost 200 less than thomann who are selling it for £1111, Andertons, GAK etc are even more, the thing that's making me a bit skeptical is the news page here... https://www.kemper-amps.com/news

Sounds like a data breach and they probably stole the IP. I'd expect a load of Chinese copies shortly. It does mean that they could have had updates to their costs and not be aware but also they could be dropping prices to increase volume of sales in the interim until the Chinese copies hit the market..
