Is it possible to rank high without buying any decks? Getting to rank 20 was easy but now everyone seems to have crazy decks and I'm sitting here with basic trash.

Basic cards are the staple of most decks. Post your current deck and I'm sure people can suggest which cards you should look to add as a priority.

Well you said Heroic wasn't much of a challenge either, and you wanted normal to be atleast a bit of a challenge :shrug:.

I would be happy with Ai being a bit less daft and the cards they have a bit more suited for playing again more options we the user chuck at them.

They could make an amazing AI (see all the bots getting Legend), but it would be impossible to beat, the AI needs to make bad choices so that bad players can actually get the cards, the only thing that should stop you from getting cards is gold/money, the same as any other card game.

You could say that they could just not have all the OP stuff, unique hero powers etc and make a decent bot like the constructed bots, but that would just be boring. The best thing about naxx is all the broken cards and hero powers, and watching a turn 1 innervate into end turn.

Also Naxx is an add on pack, my view its like BC. You got learn to crawl first even if your on ipad before you try to walk.

Let face it they might call it free to play but its not free to make or run, so some card purchasing is expected.

If your able to make 700g for a wing then you know enough of the game well enough to earn that much for each wing that they are capable or have a wide enough range of cards to make deck that's not a random construct of learning cards.

The iPad comment was about people being terrible players more than them having a new account with no cards yet, Holy Smiting face turn 1 and thinking they made the correct play. The game is f2p though and for people playing f2p the only thing stopping them getting cards should be their ability to aquire gold.

This is a card game, card games as you know have a lot of RNG in them, the harder they make the AI the more lucky you'll need to get, the more top decks in a row you need. The harder it is the more frustrating it gets for people because of draw RNG, it isn't a good thing for the game when people think they can't even play the deck they want because of bad RNG over and over, even if it's not actually bad RNG and just bad play.

IMO aquiring new cards should either be direct purchase (like packs) or from fairly easy, but fun, PvE things where pretty much everyone can get them. Harder stuff like heroics or whatever else they introduce in future should be purely non-gameplay stuff like the cardback for heroic Naxx.

That's my opinion on it anyway :).
 
Just opened up a Golden Cairne and was wondering whether to disenchant it for any of the following that I don't have?

Alexstraza
Baron Geddon
The Beast
The Black Knight
Captain Greenskin
Deathwing
Elite Tauren Chieftain
Illidan Stormrage
King Mukla
Lorewalker Cho
Nat Pagle
Nozdormu
Onyxia

I feel like it may be between Alexstraza or Black Knight but I don't really play Miracle and to me it seems I face a lot less Taunt in the meta than I used to. Is Cairne still the most useful out of the lot? I play a lot of Druid Control/Turtle so it may fit in well anyway. Thoughts?

I would never ever dust a golden Cairne but if u want to then the legendary i feel u are missing the most there would definitely be the The Black Knight.

Black Knight will get value out of most match ups seeing as taunt minions have really shot up in popularity lately.

Alex, Mukla and Baron would be the next ones i would craft in that order.
 
How many goes at arena did it take for you all to get 'decent' at it? I'm probably on my 6/7th and am still hopeless, even after reading a few guides!

About 10+ entries, I just deck build for value and mana curve don't really try to build combo decks or anything. A good early game is what will win u a lot of games and also being able to play around flamestrike and consecrate etc.
 
Seems like I'll keep the Cairne; thanks guys. TBK would be okay but by the time it can come out I usually have a few large health taunts out myself so its not the end of the world.

Felt like another look at HS this morning, as I've not played since before Naxx came out...

Done the first wing on normal + the class challenges, not had a look at Hero mode yet (is the only reward to work towards earning a special card back?)

Seems fun though - I'm glad that by the way it sounds you pay to unlock the wing permenantly, unless I'm mistaken? (i.e. it's not 700 gold to have one attempt at the wing and then you have to pay again to try again like Arena)
