***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

is WebOS as bad as people had been making out? or is it actually pretty good and people were over reacting as usual?

WebOS is fantastic IMO. It is very user intuitive and I prefer it to Android or iOS personally. I haven't tried Windows Phone 7 (or 7.5) but from a colleague having it, I would say that is the closest it gets to webOS.

It is pretty and easy to use as well as customisable. It took me a day to get used to it.

The biggest problems with it are lack of apps (although there are a fair few in the App Catalog) and lack of future support. That is the only reason why I might switch to Android in the future.

cheers for the info, people over reacting as per usual as i thought.

another quick question, i notices people selling SD cards in ebay bundles for the touchpad, but i never read anywhere that this can take an SD card.

is there any way to add additional storage or external storage, such as a USB pen? im getting the 16GB version, and as you know movies are quite large. so i was thinking of storing them on a USB or compatible memory stick and using that.

so does it take a USB stick or SD card?

sorry for the questions this thread is far too long to browse through.

I'm still trying (in vain :() to get hold of one of these! I posted a thread in the wanted forum a couple of days ago, then some lucky sod posted one yesterday and got a response straight away :p

lol, i posted a thread ages back, then closed it. i saw someone else get lucky so i thought, might as well give it another shot.

i also tried checking the other thread at various times but was always too late.

if your prepared to wait a month or two, expect to see some pop up on ebay for cheap, prices on ebay are slowly dropping.

I'm using the £5 case from play (iluv case). Does a great job, its for the ipad but has the holes in the right places, also doubles up as a stand. An absolute bargain for a fiver

make sure you update webos makes a massive difference :)

Does anyone know if the touchstone still works with these sorts of cases?

I'd get that case in an instant but without the ability to use the TS it's a waste.

you could take it off when using it on the touchstone? or it may work but i doubt it.

personally i don't see the point in the touchstone, its extremely expensive for a fancy charger. i could just use a normal USB cable and one of those grippy things instead. it does look good though, but i dont think i can justify the price for its looks alone. it costs half as much as a touchpad does.

You don't see the touchstone because you haven't got one! :D

It works with the original case and they are a fantastic piece of kit, shame I didn't buy 2!

£25 is extremely expensive for a wireless charger that also comes with the international kit? If you paid £50 for the touchpad then fair enough I could easily understand that point but I paid £35 and got a £10 cashback later.

I hate the micro usb port on the touchpad, feels way to fiddly and flimsy. The dock connector on the ipad2 is far more robust and I have no problem plugging and unplugging it, most likely due to its far larger size.

I think I'm going to take the risk and order it anyway. No case prevents me from taking it further than the bedroom/sitting room and as you say, I can always take it off.
