***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Just to let you guys know that the Touchstone charger works perfectly with the official case, you just need to pay attention to the orientation of the tablet. The home button needs to be either at the bottom or to right as it's facing you, otherwise it won't charge.

Anyone know if there's an alternate browser? The standard one doesn't seem to support drop down menus or the ability to turn off auto complete. Also anyway to pair a Wii mote?

Had this running @ 1.728Ghz for hours and Govnah reports the battery temp @ 32oc, not too shabby maybe it can go 1.9-2.0Ghz?

look for advanced browser in the catalog.

remember the state of apps is very poor. Unless android comes out or a lot of people start developing apps then this won't change.

however, one of those 2 outcomes will almost certainly happen now
honeycomb has less tablet apps then webos 3.0 has tablet apps.

Guess it depends on opinions I'm finding very little that I want or ones that are free (with potential android I don't want to pay yet).

I'm of the same opinion, plus I have an iPad which has all the apps I need on it anyway :p

Only thing I really want is the Kindle app on this and I updated before reading about how to get it on :(

Do you know if Android supports multi-touch at all? Or does it depend on what version it is?

Tbh I thought so but wasn't sure. Just looked up tech specs of a few android 3.0 tablets and they all support multi touch.
Therefore it would depend if the port of android supports it

Thanks, I guess it's going to be a case of wait and see then. I think I'll see how I get on with WebOs first however, and it will be interesting to see if some apps like TouchOSC which is currently being ported to ANdroid also get a WebOS port...

Honeycomb doesn't need tablet specific apps because Android apps scale. So there are already thousands of apps that work perfectly in Honeycomb without needing any change.

There are many apps that don't resize/scale correctly to 1280x800 in Honeycomb. They may work correctly but only look ok because they haven resized properly to the native resolution. There will be a fix to address this but it won’t fix them all. Honeycomb does need tablet apps and there are a number of specific tablet apps which display beautifully using the 1280x800 landscape resolution.

There are still many that do scale well and look fine without needing any change. Far more than the paltry number of webos tablet apps.
