***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

anyone know of a decent ereader, because the preader is rubbish and I cannot find the US kindle.ipk file to try to install that using impostah.

If anyone knows how to get kindle onto the Touchpad I would be grateful.....

I'm using Kalemsoft Media Player (Beta) on my tablet (found here - http://kalemsoft.com/betas/) and their server on my computer.
I'm not really sure how it works, all I know that it does work and is very quick. Once you select the avi on the tablet it opens up almost immediately.
It's worth trying. You need to install the beta through WebOS on your computer.

Big time buffering problems trying this. I've got a shared folder and can play the videos but the stuttering makes the videos unwatchable. I've tried lowering the quality settings but no joyt. Am I doing something wrong? The server I installed was directly from the link you gave.

Ah OK I think I know what the problem is. The PC I'm using as my main one went kaputt is an old Socket A system. Judging by the CPU usage in Task Manager, the media server is transcoding on the fly so I guess I'll have to wait until I build my new one up before expecting decent streaming.

I found this:

Here's what to do on 3.0.2:

- Open Impostah
- Choose Activation
- Choose US, English, a new email address, and a password
- Tap Create Profile (then click yes through everything)
- Tap Login
- Open App Catalog, which will prompt you to choose country. Choose US.

- Open up Impostah again
- Choose App catalog
- enter com.palm.app.kindle
- Get info
- Install

- Open Impostah (again!)
- Choose Activation
- Choose your own country, your preferred language, the email address of your original profile, and the password
- log in to the profile

trying it now.

For those who haven't gotten round to going the preware/overclocking route yet, the 2 updates since yesterday (for me at least) on the standard WebOS have made my Touchpad run a lot smoother and faster at just about everything.
It's a significant difference just the most recent update (around 38mb I think it was). Compared mine and my mates side by side and his was running like a dog compared to mine until he got the update finished.

I havent updated mine at all yet - looking forward to the speedboost.

I dont really want to overclock either as it will probably dent the battery life.

loving my touchpad so far but have a couple of questions which I can't find the answers to!!

is there a way to create a homepage so the browser goes to it when I load it up? Is there a way to rearrange bookmarks?

Also the touchpad trying to add searches is getting to be a pain!

I got Kindle onto the touchpad, however it is a waste of time as you cannot add books to it either via your PC, Syncing to Amazon or shoving them in the kindle folder on the touchpad.

Waste of time.

Also why is there no back gesture, or am I missing something obvious. It is annoying having to restart something everytime it goes pearshaped.

Those auto search notifications are extremely annoying, and there's no way to refuse them? Either add the search, or have the notification there the entire time...

I find that the OS starts unloading my browser tabs when I have 3-4 open, surely it has enough memory to keep 4 browser windows open?
