***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Why not use the native email app?

this is a communal tablet and it doesn't support multiple users and is insistent on a default account to open. It would be much easier for everyone just to log in via the web browser as touchpad doesn't support multiple user accounts.

the cpu changes clockspeed all the time i think, drops down to 192mhz on core 1, and 2nd one on mine is often off

touchplayer on preware installed for me earlier today, not tried it yet, will do so now :)

how do you look at the CPU usage/frequency?

You can use mkv2vob, it doesn't just convert to vob...

ive transferred a file over, have opened touchplayer but CANNOT figure out how to actually play a file?

I've found it, click it and it just goes green and nothing else

Please help guys I need this to work before tomorrow lol

Cheers

Tom.

hmm mkv2vob doesnt work if the default language isnt english, as it doesnt let you choose another stream! Im trying gotsent which works but leaves the file in its native res, and the touchpad drops a few frames with 1080 files. What can i use to transcode to say 720, or even better native 1024 width files?

Cheers

Tom.

handbrake is easiest, 1280x720 1100kps

As for hotmail issues, it`s in part ms using silverlight but also hotmail doesn't support html 5.

It'll get there just have some patience, it hasn't been out that long.

As for using hotmail, just use the built in email app.

I use ripbot. (what I use for bd rips as well)

Point it to the film, set the res and audio. Set it to 2pass with a 1gig file size limit. The 2920xm in my laptop tears through films faster than my desktop.

On a side note, I'm loving the touchstone. I originally had it on my desk but now have the worlds biggest discounted alarm clock on my bedside with it constantly in exhibition mode. Should I feel bored, said alarm clock is now a web browser. :D

Answered my question indirectly.

Now is the web performance as troublesome as some seem to be reporting? Or is it just this issue with the Hotmail website?

Web performance is mixed for me. Some sites have rendering problems and I get random freezes and stuttering. For example I'll be scrolling down a webpage and it will just completely freeze for a few seconds, or I'll be typing text and it will freeze. Google Docs is completely unusable.

But other times it works fine. Honestly I probably get more annoyed by the lack of features in the browser and the way it bounces around horizontally when scrolling up and down a webpage (even when the page is fitting the screen exactly). I find the bouncy scrolling most irritating.

I found it did not work on the BBC sport page that showed the updating football ticker. The page would constantly do a full reload, which made it a bit useless.

I get this too, it's a real shame. The web browser needs far more spit and polish. As it's the gateway to most things on the touchpad I hope hp sort it out in an update.
